For those who have gotten PYC at Golyg, the site has been shut down due to low demand. Here is the message I received this morning:
I'm afraid to announce that Golyg, the community for sharing television programmes from Wales, has come to an end because of low demand. I'd also like to apologise for the abrupt way the tracker ended a few days ago. Over 4,000 television programmes from Wales were shared with over 1,300 members in 68 countries for free during the community's three years. However, relatively few members log in regularly and demand for programmes is so low it's impractical to continue financing the tracker. A special thanks to the handful of members who capped and shared the programmes and to those who kept them and continued to share with others. Thanks too, to the members who were active in the forums and who left such kind comments for the cappers. Ideas will continue to be discussed over coming weeks and it's possible good news will follow to some members in the new year. |

I'm so sad to hear that Golyg is gone!
I was certainly one of it's regular members for three years. I can't believe the amount of television I watched through it! I do it comes back in some form next year but I can understand that it was a heck of a lot of work for a small number of people.IF you're outside of the UK and need to get your PyC fix may I highly suggest Tunnel Bear ($50 a year - unlimited data access). If you're like me and want to watch and pause and watch and pause (and look up words on Google Translate) may I also suggest VSO Downloader ($30). This allows you to capture streaming files faster than real-time (so you can snag the whole week's worth in less than an hour). If you turn the subtitle stream on (Welsh or English) it will capture that as an onscreen burn in. I'm still trying to figure out how to download the actual subtitle .srt files (the way Golyg did). I'll post here if I figure it out. |

I am sad Golyg is gone too. But I understand the time and the other expenses, you have to pay for the webhosting. I just found that out myself; it can be expensive.
As Basilbird said Tunnelbear is good, I am using https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/ which was a bit cheaper than Tunnelbear at $40 for the year. Getting a VPN also protects your privacy so making the investment isn't a bad idea if don't like the idea of other people tracking your internet usage. Checked my email Tunnelbear is on sale until the end of the year at $40 as well. It has trackers outside Europe for Japan and Australia. So if that is important to you I would check it out. The worst fight scene in soap history.
Police as sharp as needles as usual. Yeah, it was Garry Monk. He just turned up and started punching them both. Better not interview anyone else. |

I`m on a private tracker so I will get them Sunday (fingers crossed)
Sorry I can`t give out the website link - am not allowed, and I can`t give out invites like at the other site. ![]() TunnelBear is good - nice and simple. Just the way I like it.

Just the way I like it. ![]() s4c shouldn't have geo-blocking in the first place. There obviously isn't much of a commercial market for Welsh language television. I have no problem with copyright when it protects the earnings of authors and creators. But blocking s4c just prevents people like Basilbird from practicing her Welsh. More Welsh speaking was a good thing I thought. At least they should let us purchase access if we want to. |

You know, I really think that's coming soon. I was on the Clic site in the FAQ section and one of the questions was did you need to buy a special TV license for online content. The answer, of course, was no. Well... think about it... how many people in the UK are going to be ditching their TVs in favor of watching on their devices? Surely selling a "TV license" of sorts for online access would be a good revenue generator. That is sort of the model the cable companies in the US have for some of their premium channels. You have to log onto the site with your Comcast (or whatever) credentials. If Golyg proved anything, it was that there *is* a market for Welsh TV outside of the UK
I can't see why Welsh language television couldn't compete. There is a market for other subtitled programmes. Scandinavian television is popular so is Korean language television. |

How can Sioned stay with Ed? Hasn't she had enough of him? What exactly has he ever done for her that makes her so loyal. He treats her like dirt. I can't stand to look at him.
