Looks like the next series of Gwaith/Cartref will be very different. The following is taken from http://www.s4c.cymru/production/e_greenlight.php

"New series and a new location. Porth y Glo school is in a relatively small community in the Welsh Valleys, close to Cardiff. It is a deprived area and the community is quite different to Bro Taf / Llwyn Dafydd Schools of past series. It is a community where people are much more likely to know each other and this will give a different slant, especially to the stories surrounding the school. Series 6."

Series 6 and 7 have been commissioned but they are only going to be 1/2 hour episodes, 10 episodes in each series. I hope this doesn't mean they're planning to give it an early evening slot. Part of the brilliance of G/C, in my opinion, was that they could deal with difficult issues because it was broadcast after the watershed.

Thanks Malwen, I am quite sorry to hear that the episodes are only 1/2 an hour. Gwaith/Cartref is such an intelligent look at the life of teachers. I hope it won't change.

I haven't watched in awhile. The show just isn't that compelling anymore. To be fair though I only watch to see Iolo and if the rest of the show is interesting then I'll tune in. But he's barely on it seems like. Has Iolo and/or William been on recently? Have I missed something? Thanks!

Iolo was on a bit when he thought Colin was having an affair with Britt. Turned out Colin was practicing to be an aromatherapist.

I don't think Iolo as a character is treated any worse than the other character. The fact of the matter is they aren't writing big storylines any more for any of the characters. The last really big storyline was the one with Moc.

The problem with Iolo is that character is a bit of ordinary everyman type and unless they create a storyline which is a bit plot driven his life is not that interesting. But I could say the same of a number of characters on PYC right now. DJ and Ed haven't done much interesting either.

I've never understood why the show added DJ and did nothing with him. He's never really had any story or any real love interest. As for Ed, he's just there to shame Sioned when she acts out. Speaking of which, whatever happened with that guy with the sick wife that Ed met? Did that go anywhere?

Nothing ever happened with guy Ed went to see that I can remember. It was just a bit of a pointless 3 episode story.

Yeah, I just have the feeling that what we are seeing on screen is being greatly effected by the political decisions about how s4/c is going to be funded. Either they don't have the money to spend or they don't want to write anything that is going to provoke more cuts. Its probably a bit of both.

I am so disgusted with both Sheryl and Hywel.
I`m furious at Sheryl for thinking she`s entitled to a house that`s not even hers, and rubbing Gaynors nose into the fact that she daren`t try anything or she`d lose the baby. And I`m just mad at Hywel for being such a pathetic wimp.
I hope Gaynor`s solicitor takes Hywel to the cleaners. Although deep down I really think Hywel won`t put up a fight with the house. And I have no doubt that after the baby is born he`ll go round sniffing after Gaynor again.
I hate what the writers have turned Sheryl into. I don`t recall her ever being this devious.

Yes it was. Also Hwyel and Gaynor have been married only a short time and she was the one who made more money. I really can't see that Hwyel and Sheryl have any claim on the house. Its not marital property.
