Thanks Malwen, I just saw the article myself. It should be interesting. It does reflect many viewers who are not Welsh speakers.

If they have money for casting they could use a single male character to interact with the single women they've just added to the cast. A recast of Arwen's father would be a good choice.

Honestly, the last thing this show needs is another older character.

BTW, I haven't watched in awhile since it seems Iolo has gone MIA, but are DJ and Gemma dating? Stuff like that shows two things: this show just won't get rid of characters who have long outlived their purpose and usefulness and it reeks of throwing people together for no reason other than there's no one else to put them with.

They have added a younger character in Vicki who should be about 20 or so. The audience is older the casting of this new fits in with what they favor. There are many people on Facebook who seem to favor the short sentimental storylines.

DJ and Gemma are dating. It isn't that bad if you can buy happy anti-climatic to her harassment/blackmail/stalking storyline. Its a bit of a hard sell.

As far Iolo goes we haven't seen much of him. I think the obvious point of tension for Iolo and William is Sion and his interference and illegal activities. I don't really understand what they are doing with Whites. I personally think the obvious thing to do if they have some money is recast Sion's sons. You then would have a large multi-generational family with obvious points of conflict. Macs and Iolo were already re-cast so I don't really see the issue there.

I saw Mark Flanegan in the promos for the new series. It does look good and his character looks very different than Jinx.

My frustration though is its pretty obvious Mark Flanegan has no plans to come back to PYC. I really wish they would re-cast someone to in the role of Arwen's father. The storyline doesn't make sense without someone in that role. Sion is not a good substitute and why would anyone other than Gethin want to protect Ffion at this point? She abandoned a child to drink.

The Sheryl Hywel storyline has lasted a year too long already, I'm glad they're not going to drag it out for much longer. However it ends I hope Gaynor gets her house back.

Its not a good story is it? Hwyel and Sheryl don't have any chemistry and part of the storyline is that they're not really in love with each other. Its hard to imagine how they can make this storyline interesting.

To be honest I can`t see Sheryl having much of a future with Hywel in Cwmderi. And Sheryl doesn`t have any family now that Wil is in Canada, and her Mother Julie went back to her home.
Sheryl has become really unpleasant since she she and Hwyel became a couple. In all the years I`ve been watching PYC, I`ve never seen Sheryl so mean and selfish as she is now,
It will mean the end of Sheryl if she dies in surgery. Then Hywel will no doubt be sniffing around Gaynor hoping she will help with the baby.

Pleeeeease can Macs return?!!!! I hated his rushed and awful exit.

It would make the biggest impact I think. In the Ffion and the one with Sion. If they're smart they'll try for big conclusions to the storylines that have run the longest.

But I bet it'll be Julie Sheryl's mother. Or if they are saying an iconic character it'll be Mark's family Kath and Stacey.

I would love it if it was Marks Mother and sister sderr.
If that`s the case, then it makes me wonder if Gemma will survive on Gwaith/Cartref when it returns in January.


Another returnee I would really love to see back is Yvonne Evans. It makes sense if she does come back as she has her brother Colin still living there....and ex sis in law Gaynor.

I`d also like to have Gabriella come back too. She`s such a lovely character.

Looking at the new spoilers I am beginning to think that the returnees might have to do with Arwen. It seems like Ffion doesn't immediately get Arwen back. The way she's behaving that's no surprise. I know PYC doesn't always do logic but in real life you couldn't resolve a problem like that without at least notifying the father. Macs and Jinx are supposed to both be in Wales aren't they?
