I'm not connecting the two criticisms: the poor writing is a completely separate issue to the issue of the same faces appearing in every S4C drama.
I appreciate that there are probably relatively few Welsh-speaking actors available, but that doesn't really excuse the same dozen or so people appearing in almost every drama series that is shown on S4C. I don't think there was a single character in Y Gwyll who was not well-known from other drama series. Surely, there must be some talented young actors trying to break into the business who would deserve that break. |

There is a lot of money being spent on Y Gwyll, it is being sold internationally. I don't think putting a bunch of untried new comers in the biggest Welsh production in years would be wise. What if they were all horrible? This is an opportunity to expose Welsh drama to a wider audience who won't know the actors. It might be an interesting experiment for you, but who could take a risk in having a massive failure when so much money was on the line? I can definitely tell the difference between an actor who has had very little experience and training and one that has had years of training and experience.
Perhaps future stories will have a few new faces. |

That would be a valid argument if all the actors were particularly good, but I really don't think they are. Most of them are from soaps and other lowbrow dramas such as Caerdydd, Gwaith/Cartref and Teulu, and are not particularly convincing in anything they appear in.
Perhaps future stories will have a few new faces. I have read the articles on the BBC production they are trying to create a Welsh version on Broadchurch or Wallander that could be shown across the UK and internationally. Those productions had well known casts of named actors. The BBC wouldn't have funded a cast of unknown actors in such a high profile production. You know what what they're right not too. I don't think it is really true that any group of random people that had some drama in school could do a better job. |

I think Gethin being annoying is to get back at her for not forgiving him when he forgave her and also as a sort of new way to get her to talk to him. plus it hurt him when he heard her and Garry talking about him after the attack. And it's an all attention is good attention kind of thing, plus it may be a tactic of if you want me to stop you have to forgive me kind of thing. He does seem to be leaning towards being homosexual again, with his nail polish, dashing tight suits, trying to bond with Iolo etc, I wonder if they're actually going to go down that route as they planted the seeds long ago and PYC tends to plant seeds leave them for a bit then pick them up again months later when you think they've forgotten, some times years after.

Gethin and Iolo is much better timing now. When it could have been about repressed memories of incest that would have been too much of a yuck factor. Now that Iolo is not so perfect that really helps. Certainly better than Iolo and Rhys. Rhys is as interesting as a block of wood (too me at least). |

They did a DNA test ruling that person out though I thought and no we can't have trouble for Garry/Dani already.

Neither Hwyel or Gaynor are good people I bet one of them did something with that test. |

I think Sion is getting to be very controlling. Why is it always a black and white choice with him? This just isn't a decision between violent revenge against Gwyneth or complete forgiveness. Forgiveness begins at home. Sion is never really is willing to forgive his own family. I think Iolo is beginning to see through him. If Britt leaves it will be with the children and Iolo won't be far behind.

Brilliant news. Is it full time or just a guest role?
If it`s full time, I suppose that means the end of Macs White. What a shame ![]() I wonder if some of the guessing about an off screen death for Macs might come true. It would one way of dealing with and ending some of the issues with Macs. |
