Kirkwood produced a fantastic era from 2006 - 2009 and made the show great to watch. How has he failed so much this time around? It is awful. So sad, I love the show, but he makes it so difficult.

Maybe they just havent found a suitable replacement yet. I cant imagine too many people are lining up to take over Hollyoaks, although anyone with a brain and zero experience could do a better job than Kirkwood at this point. Unless he's suffered some sort of mental handicap in recent years, he's got to be ruining these soaps on purpose. Who knows why.

I may need to ask for your help here. It's just that, after all this time, I might be getting used to Cindy! For a long time, I could not forgive her for her part in breaking the Bensons when Ollie was killed.

So, my dilemma is this. Is it time for me to accept she was really young then, and let bygones be bygones? Or, is this just a bizarre phase that has come from nowhere and should really go nowhere?

Perhaps a worrying sign was that I did not cringe when I saw clips of her from the episode on 22.3.99, which I was transferring from video to DVD. (I had kept a recording of this episode as it was my first one after receiving a signed photo of Natasha Symms, who played Kate and was in this episode).

It needs a complete and utter clean out both on screen & off. Kind of what Paul Marquess did.

And while it's fine to ask these questions of Kirkwood, as he in the man in charge. I feel it gets forgotten that both Lime & 4 aren't innocent either.

Not much to add other than I agree with the pair of you - and I agree particularly with the BIB. All parties involved (BK, Lime and C4) seem content for the current setup to carry on for the forseeable though, which is a horribly depressing thought for a Monday afternoon. No wonder then really when I for one miss an episode nowadays I'm in no hurry to catch up any more.

With leaving if BK wanted to keep him around why not recast him it's been some time since they recasted anyone and if they did they that be the first recast in hollyoaks in ages.

Oscar was recast relatively recently. Last July they briefly recast Amber Sharpe. I do agree though that the character still has potential and a recast wouldn't be completely mad.

Dylan still has great potential he's working out fine on hollyoaks, it's a shame he's . BK recasted Holly and had no plans of letting the character leave, would be great if Dylan gets recasted.

It's been some time since we've seen Diane's old home and Rhys flat wonder if we ever them them again.

The writing for Cindy is ridiculous at the minute, so insulting to bi-polar sufferers to see a bi-polar sufferer characterized as some sex starved bored housewife.

Grace is still fantastic, Tamara Wall is phenomenal

As much as I love seeing Cindy on screen, I have to agree. This thing with her and Jason is tasteless and completely unsubtle (Mindy and Mason - please...).

Part of me thinks though that this is (at least in part) a plot device for the upcoming Holly stuff, although that would require coherent joined up thinking on the part of the Hollyoaks writing staff so I shan't be holding my breath for that to be the case.

While we're giving praise, Anna Passey is also brilliant - so much so I'd happily watch her read a dictionary.

You only have to look at the other producers to see why Kirkwood is still in a job. As long as the show reaches some target as far as audience figures go I seriously doubt anyone cares what is going on in the show.

Recasting Dylan is of course possible but give the show a chance to write the character out and have some space in between before doing so.

was banged up (for a crime she didn't actually commit aka HO default mode)
was hugged gay by Kim
was electrocuted
was admitted to the Comedy Hospital

Not sure where she is right at this moment, but Trevor is on Brutus watch so she doesn't appear to be at home.

I love "Comedy Hospital"

I enjoyed seeing Leela confront Diane on Friday. Although Leela has twice had fallouts with Tegan over Ziggy, she will support Tegan over Rose and probably DeeDee too.

I enjoy seeing Kirsty-Leigh Porter and Alex Fletcher work together for another reason. In a way, Kirsty-Leigh became the new Alex. Alex's Brookside character Jacqui and Kirsty-Leigh's Emmerdale character Roz both transformed themselves from one of my worst to one of my favourite characters.

I want to throw eggs at HO styling department who the hell is doing Grace and Leelas hair? They go to the bog looking like they're about to do a Vegas drag show

As I am in the process of transferring some long-term video recordings of interest to DVD, I watched some clips of Kate from 1998 today. These included Kate starting an affair with Kurt. However, it transpired that I had not kept a clip of Tony seeing them kissing by the pool and discovering their affair that way!

It was interesting to see how Tony, Jack and Cindy looked 17 years ago though.

(On an unrelated note, I also watched the film If Only starring Lena Headey.)
