I voted 5 times for Julien as a tactical vote because I can't stand Vanessa or James but I thought that dance off was too close to call as both were really good efforts .

I was surprised that all 4 judges were so adamant about Julien been better .

I think Len came the closest to admitting that the DO was close to call but that Julien might improve some more. Both improved with the DO and Vanessa made less mistakes. I think the choreography for her routine was less forgiving than that of Julien's jive though.

Vanessa definitely was better the second time round but still not good. I'd have preferred Vanessa to stay but I'm not shocked they sent her home cause it wasn't amazing

Vanessa has a big mouth ...which will not go down well with the others... esp the judges..

I thought Dave, Vanessa and Julien were the three worst dancers of the night, so any two of those (dance wise) would have made sense being in the bottom two, imo. And low and behold Julien and Vanessa ended up there. Neither made any glaring mistakes, but watching them both again, they still didn't look great, despite both trying hard. I think, even though he isn't great, Julien's Latin is just a smidge better than Vanessa's overall, imo, though he did get to dance Latin twice in the show so you'd hope he'd have a better grouding of the basics than Vanessa anway). I do feel a tad sorry for Vanessa as she clearly loved loved the show and embrace it all, but plenty of them love it just the same and I'd prefer she went before a better dancer. No shock result and the show goes on.

They were both awful in their own way. Vanessa was stompy and stilted while Julien was limp and lethargic. It's a close call to say which form of awful was the worst.

The thought of Vanessa doing the rhumba next week makes her elimination all the better.

Completely disagree . That was a good jive from Julien, far better the Abbey's mediocre effort, and I'm a fan of Abbey and Aljaz .

Something that really spoke to me was that when Vanessa and James were announced in the Dance off, Dave and, in particular, Karen, went STRAIGHT over to them without so much of a smile that they were voted through!

I think a lesson in tact for Team Bloody Sparkle!

I don't think they did go straight over to them - they were just clearing the stage ready for the dance-off and would have been told to vacate the spotlights as soon as the dance-off was announced.

No, rewatch it again, they do go straight to Vanessa and James!

Obviously you're entitled to you're opinion but no, I don't think it was a good Jive and certainly not better than Abbey's. Abbey wasn't as sharp as she could have been but Julien barely lifted his feet off the floor, missed out steps completely because he couldn't keep up with Janette, was out of sync with her in places and when he did put a bit of energy into the dance towards the end he was just flailing his arms and legs loosely.

I will say that Julien's Jive was maybe a bit more entertaining than Abbey's but I'd give more credit to Janette for that because she was clearly going into over drive to sell the dance and divert as much attention away from Julien's dancing as possible.

I noticed that too. I also noticed that Julien and Janette were far more muted in their response to the judges' votes and actually commiserated with Vanessa and James. Maybe being in the dance off twice in a row has sobered them... or the producers have had a word.

There are times when it looks like he should straighten his legs and he doesn't. Has he trained by limbo dancing under toilet doors?

There seems to be a LOT of tension among the contestants waiting for the results this year, I've never seen so many looking as if they're going to throw up while standing there. It seemed to me that Dave was very tense and screwed up, and that his reaction wasn't calculated but nerves.

We all know how easy it is to look detached or appear rude when actually we're scared out of our wits! Maybe we can give them all the benefit of the doubt about how they behave until they're a bit more used to it all.

lizziwils, this forum doesn't deserve you. Get out while you still have a chance.

Julien was all over the place in his jive but he seemed to have largely remembered what order the steps were meant to come in, where to stand etc and kept smiling and moving - he also had to take off his hat, glasses, jacket etc, maybe not hard if you're a trained dancer but I don't think anyone is accusing him of that.

I got the impression Vanessa enjoyed the 'acting' aspect of the tango but had not really mastered the steps or the general flow of the dance. Also she looked more as if she was going to beat James up than being passionately jealous of the man she loved!

So I guess although Julien was pretty bad, he had mastered more of the steps and also performed in the spirit of the dance. I'm sorry for Vanessa going out so early but I did think she was going to be struggling to learn dances in a week on Saturday's showing so it may have saved her and us a lot of agony

I like Vanessa but have to agree that her Tango was pretty dire and she deserved to be sent home. I do dislike that the contestants are not on the same Level as some have obviously had extensive ballet which helps tremendously when you are learning ballroom. You have already learnt how to be graceful, Position your limbs and learn complicated Dance routines. Vanessa obivously never danced before and it showed. I actually prefer it when celebs are ghastly the first few weeks!! The Level of Dance on the first week of SCD was ricidulous!!!

Julian seems to have calmed down a bit. He was embarrassingly OTT on the first Show!!!

I like strong feisty women. Vanessa was also very gracious at the end. Abbey [all teeth and gob] gets on my nerves far more.

Of these two, I'm glad Vanessa went. I found her rude and abrasive, and disrespectful of her pro which Julien has never been. Plus Julien is putting in more hard work (well it's hard to put in any less than Vanessa did, but he was near the top in training hours).

Interesting. One person's strong and feisty is another's rude and obnoxious. Her gob got her in the dance off. Thing is, she is so used to her " persona " she has no idea how she comes across to some people.

Julien actually danced on his own whilst Vanessa was dragged around the floor by James.
I know Julien wasn't great but he was better than Vanessa.
