Deadlock - Adjudicator?
Fudd
13-10-2013
Does anyone think that, instead of using the Flash Vote to decide a Deadlock, they should bring in a neutral adjudicator to make the final decision? That way the Flash Vote doesn't have more weight than the overnight vote. They could even get Simon involved; I'm sure he could spare 15 minutes in a week to say a name.

Yeah i agree, or even use the "fifth judge" app and the majority of the public vote is the deciding vote!

Maybe a guest judge every week? That only judges the sing off

they should have buttons hooked up to the seats in the audience and if it goes to deadlock the audience get 60 seconds to vote for their favourite

A fifth judge would have been better. This was messy and unfair.

Maybe the star guest for each week; so it would have been Cher this week.

I thought you were going to say if it went to deadlock the audience would be electrocuted.

If it had been a tie Shelley would have gone home as she lost the flash vote.

If they did that then what would be the point of keeping the flash vote?

Much fairer than previously IMO. At least the judges can't cop out by taking it to deadlock because everyone now knows who would go in that case.

Sorry - I meant scrap the flash vote and introduce an adjudicator to decide Deadlock.

If the want to keep it the fifth judge app seems a good way of doing something slightly different.

Oh.. so it is sort of a deadlock then ! As before it was the lowest viewers vote who left.. So really we know the result on a saturday if we base it on not a tie sunday !! weird

preferred the original deadlock tbh..

there were moments last night where that would have been preferable

The judges cant cop out, but i think the flash vote is unfair to the contestant.

It is open to the production team/mentor manipulating the result. Say, due to a bad week, a favourite for the win falls into the bottom two via the flash vote - it would only take one other mentor (bar the opposing mentor who has the other act in the bottom two) to vote against them for them to go home.

All they have done and think that they have cleverly hidden is to remove the going back to the public vote.

So remove any control we used to have.

So, who is it that decides who is bottom in the flash vote?

If deadlock is so unpopular (I personally don't mind it, as long as it is not abused by judges too cowardly to cast a vote), they should have whoever the leading vocal coach is on the show (it used to be Evie Burnett) to sit on the panel on Sunday nights to vote.

The public. But they only have 8 minutes to make the choice. I suppose we should be thankful that they've made it clear that the flash vote loses out instead of making it up as they go along.

Good idea..mind you, given the credentials of 3 of the 4 sitting on the show, you might as well get the cleaner to do it, as anyone else....and I certainly wouldn't want Cowell back for any reason.

He's never shown himself to be any sort of objective, or impartial judge.

Rich.

If Sharon had voted for either act - Shelley would of gone home tonight. This is why her abstaining from the vote made a mockery of this new system.
