Anyone Think They're All Boring?
I feel like this is one of the worst years...if not the worst. Quite a few of them have really good voices, but there's no way that any of this lot will have huge careers in music. None of them look confident or comfortable. People like Leona and Alexandra...they just had "IT" immediately and felt special from day one. I hate how Tamera is being touted as the winner. She looks the part definitely, but her voice is nothing special and she comes across as if even she's shocked that everyone loves her so much. It's just all a bit underwhelming. I don't see any stars and none of them are interesting.

Maybe cause we've seen these all these archetypes before? The shouters, the little boy with the big voice, the urban group, the quirky girl, the pretty boy? None of them are particularly original, new, fresh or exciting I suppose.

I think it's a very poor final 12 myself....they left many good singers behind at bootcamp and Judges House (and even Souli Roots and Barclay 'Yodeller' Beales would have been entertaining in this line up). |

Nicholas is one who can't find a fine line between boring and irritating he got called boring so now on Twitter he's like just annoying
I like him as a singer and want him to do well just needs to find a personality in between the 2 |

I do, if I'm honest and it isn't coz Mel was sent home, I've said it all along this year, its weak.
I think the overs are back to front, arguably barring Sam. I think the three who were sent home would have provided so much more variety and they all had something different to bring and had very good voices. Paul going from the boys has left us with 3 teenie girl eye candy set pieces. They need at least 1 good boy, even the teenagers on my FB have picked up the Ken gag with Sam, they are starting to think he is a dick as opposed to cute and are going towards hair guy!?!?! (No idea, beats me too). They are older teens though. The girls, we don't have a strong, polished vocalist. Hannah is as close as we've got to that but she has weaknesses, is really breathy and I worry a bit about this vocal rest thing. Plus she was a huge let down. Tamera, while I dislike *her*, is generally good but not that good, she's all style without so much substance. Abi was a bit of a let down too as while she is different, her vocal ability is miss. The groups, shrugs. I can't think of anyone who is in the final 12 who isn't a tad generic or who has an authentic sounding voice. Its a big let down. |

Hate them all poor line up this year, if I had to pick one it would be rough copy.
Melanie , Paul. Joseph , and a few others which iv forgot their names should have gone through to live shows instead of this boring lot. So bored tonight there's not a star in any of them. |

I didn't even bother watching the results show & not looking forward to seeing any of the acts next week. |

I don't find RC boring, but that wasn't a performance choice that highlighted how much fun they can be.
I also found KR pretty fun this week. ![]() As far as the soloists go... yeah, pretty much. Sam B's got a bit of charisma to her. Most of my fun is trying to figure out who might actually be commercial and second guessing how the producers are thinking, so not that big a deal for me. |

It's early days, as yet, so far as the others are concerned. I'm not that fussed as to whether they have great personalities, so long as they can deliver a good performance. Leona Lewis, had great stage presence and an amazing voice, but when interviewed came across as really dull, IMO. Part of the problem, I think, is that there's an over emphasis on ballads and we're not getting to see another side to some of the contestants..and when we do get an uptempo number from some of them, it's a mess, like Miss Dynamix's version of "Jump." However, loathe these identikit boy-bands, as I do.. I thought Kingsland Rd, have plenty of energy. Rich. x |

I suppose we sometimes do it in the hope that it will get better.. But, it's a hackneyed, worn out, tired and ridiculously drawn out set up.. At least, for the moment, the endless blubbing has stopped, but there's only so many times you can hear the same old cliches, the same old routines, the same old "banter," between the judges an Dermot doing his "I must hurry you, we're running out of time," number, till it all starts to blur into one! As for "improving," the show with these new gimmicks, it's just tinkering at the edges and still people think that recalling Cowell, Minogue, or (worse still) Ms Cole, will somehow "rescue," the show from its inevitable demise. It felt so boring last night, everything was said loads of times before, the same old fake drama in the sing off and 2 very boring guests singing.
There were alternative acts that could have made a more interesting live shows but they went for the same old same old we've seen too many times but this time they picked acts without any charisma, likeability or even hateability. I'm not sure what can be done to save this series , if things don't improve then the ratings are going to plummet and Cowell may resort to panic measures whatever they could be. |

I dont think its as bad as last year but certainly not the best. I would like to see a load of contestants that could be winners, like you say out of these can only see 2 of them having the slightest chance of success.
And sharon going on about how she wants to win and then chooses those 3 acts, no offence but come on, they are not winners. |

I think she was on vocal rest just for this week. It will get better and then we'll have our old Hannah back. She can't force it out too much you see.

Boring and not very good. Is this really the best they could come up with while dumping Melanie McCabe?

Other than the exception of three contestants I agree. I have never in ten years of watching the show had such little interest at this stage of the show.

^ I think this is the problem. I don't think it's the contestants individually - I just think after 10 years, we the viewers have seen it all before (including the judge's reactions to the contestants - it may be different judges over the years, but they pretty much say the same thing to the same sorts of performances).
I find myself comparing contestants to past ones all of the time too. It's probably most noticable with the overs and girls. The overs has three (well now two) big ballad singer types so they are all cut from the same sheet. They would have been better to have picked a ballad singer, Joseph who (I don't want to use this term really) is a rock type voice and then have picked Zoe to give a more unique sounding voice. Then the girls have a similar issue, at least at a high level. You have Abi who is this years quirky, artistic, indie, hippy archetype and then you have Hannah and Tamera who while technically different genres (soul and RnB respectively), their genres appeal comes from the same sheet, there is a strong overlap there. It would have been better to have three different types in the girls (so exchange either Hannah or Tamera for either Melanie or Jade) and we would have had a more interesting line up. The boys is just ****ed up and the groups are the groups. |

I think the X Factor has just gone on too long. It's the same old same year in year out. They are not a bad bunch of singers but it's all been done before.
The Saturday show went on way too long. Too drawn in and these bloody adverts and the competitions as well. I didn't watch on Sunday as I'd had enough on Saturday. |

I have to agree.
This is the first year where I've sat and watched and just not cared. There's no-one I want to leave, there's no-one I want to win. I'm just coasting through (normally at speed x30 on the Sky box) |
