Are any of you fed-up of the way the show kids onto viewers that the results are filmed on Sunday evening? I cringed again tonight when all the contestants and professionals were in the exact same costumes, exact same hair and make-up, but Tess went and changed into another dress in some attempt to pretend it was a different day.

Do you think they should just tell the truth?

I don't care particularly but I don't understand why they put up this pretence.

We ALL know its filmed on one night, the judges and celebs often slip up in their interviews and forget its supposed to be tomorrow. Its the worst kept secret in television and I don't see who benefits from the deception.

Every year people seems to think it's a major discovery that Sunday show was recorded. Why?

What difference would it make if they did? The timing of the results show wouldn't change it'd still be shown on Sunday.

Everything about Strictly is real. Bruce and Tess are really married you know. Iveta can truly fly. Dave Myers actually was a groovy 1960s secret agent. And Erin really did dance with a dummy.

And the Christmas shows we watch on December 25th are really filmed round about October ... and when does anyone state that "this is Sunday"?
It's referred to as "the Sunday results show" and why not? Who cares?

I find that all believable except for the bit about Erin dancing with a dummy!

That comment has just made my night.

Doctor Who Christmas specials are usually filmed in July, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross was filmed on a Thursday and Strictly - The Results Show is filmed on a Saturday, it's just the way television is made.

Yes the results show would still be shown on a Sunday, but it's the way in which they fib about it that bothers me.

It just makes them appear to be a bit on the dim side that they think the viewers are swallowing it. I suppose some do, but that's not the point. They are lying!

No, FMs mentioning about other shows pre-recorded and broadcast on different day, like the Christmas Special (and they were all 'pretending' it was filmed on Christmas), why is no one complaining about that?

I really don't care & I don't think it's lying at all they say 'yesterday' & 'last night' because of when the show was broadcast not when it was filmed.

Why get so het up about it? Either you want to enjoy the show or you don't - you don't even have to watch the results show thanks to this excellent forum, where you can find out the results on Saturday night! The references to "last night" do link the audience into the time it was shown, that's all.

Y U THINK IM STOOPID BBC?!

I NO U NOT LIVE!

Every single year. Every year I post a variation of the same post explaining that they are only doing the same thing every other program does: presenting a narrative consistent with the BROADCAST time of the program, not the time at which it was FILMED. I'm yet to receive anything even approaching a logical counter-argument.

Well it certainly makes someone seem a bit dim, I'm just not sure that it's anyone involved in the show.

This is one of those classic SCD bingo thingie. Like BBC has an agenda and fixed for their 'employees' to get as far as possible, if not win the show (thus complain to Ofcom), or is Ola pregnant, etc..

Why do you have to make things so hard. We prefer Battleships or Simon Says here.

Logistically it is easier and cheaper for the BBC to record the show on a Saturday night and put it out on the Sunday but they don't want viewers to seek out the spoiler; hence the pretence. A lot of people still don't realise that the show isn't really 'live'.

Sigh........every single year the same complaints, you would think that some people would get used to the format of the show by now ...........

*sigh* Every year we get the same thread.

If they didn't record it "as live" for the sunday then there would be just as many people moaning that they couldn't put the effort into implying that it's the sunday as it would be too confusing for those who don't know that it's pre-recorded.

Damned if they do and damned if they don't.

It's only the same as when soaps record weeks in advance but the characters refer to the events happening on the day of broadcast as 'today'.

As long as no one on the SCD Results show asks us to ring in and vote that day they are not doing anything wrong.

And it seems to me that it's only a very small number of vociferous pedants on this forum that care about it (and then presume to speak for the 9 million or so viewers as a whole).

Well, I have seen no groundswell of opinion in the media about this, it's not a talking point in shops, bars and offices .... in fact it would appear that most viewers just don't seem to care/

Because the show is BROADCAST on a Sunday.

If they referred to it as anything other than "yesterday" or "last night" it would make no sense. As far as the people watching on Sunday are concerned the events described did happen "yesterday" or "last night".

Why is it so hard for people to grasp the the need for different language use to fit broadcast times? Blimey even the Queens Christmas message is recorded a few days before and Hootenany is recorded in the summer.
