It's pretty obvious that the top guns per category are: Tamera, Nick, Rough Copy, and Sam Bailey. They can't take all of them to the final, so assuming that nothing untoward (shock exit, many B2 appearances, etc.) happens, who are they throwing under the bus?

The fact is that alphas do change radically (Craig to Marcus in 2011, Laura to Alex in 2008, Melanie to Chris in 2012, The Risk to Little Mix in 2011, Danyl to Olly in 2009). And I still think they haven't decided the alphas for the Girls, Boys and Groups. Here's how I think it'll shape up:

Boys: Luke
Girls: Hannah (maybe even winner?)
Groups: Kingsland Road
Overs: Sam B (I still think it will be her and she will win if she shows something current)

I think for now they want to get rid of Miss Dynamix - to free up their votes to Tamera and Rough Copy. They want to keep Shelley in for now to take some of Sam B's votes for now. They'll want to get rid of Sam C soon to get his voters to Kingsland Road.

If Hannah becomes the alpha then I'm sure they'll throw Sam B under the bus as soon as possible.

Think they'll do a Nicholas V Tamera sing off and get rid of one of them 2 that way

I'm using the unrealistic assumption that they won't, but yes, that's true. I don't think Kingsland Road will be top gun if only because the show still has 1D and UJ just happened; plus, Rough Copy will fill the JLS gap. Same for Luke because Nick is a force of nature (he's like a cross between Joe and Eoghan). As for the Girls, Hannah could be the Rebecca to Tamera's Cher Lloyd if the latter's popularity doesn't take off. At this point, Sam Bailey's the only over who can win so no problem with that.

The thing is although I love Tamera, she is no Ella and don't get me started on how pitchy Nick can be compared to soulful James. I can see how it would be a 'mini' but more like a mega Katie Waissel vs Aiden Grimshaw showdown.

Nicholas would be gone before the sing off

Rough Copy if Kingsland Road look like doing well in the voting...if Kingsland Road struggle like The Risk, they'll be under the bus

Sam Bailey will definitely go far, but if they don't want her to win they'll employ 'Mary' tactics to stop her (underhand)

The other two should be safe

Tamera without a shadow of doubt. It's starting already - police caution, boyfriend-stealer.

Unlike some other years, all of them still look like at least marginally usable commercial pieces in vastly different ways. Really the goal for a commercial launch is final 4, so at this point I wouldn't be planning to sabotage one in particular; let the chips fall where they may. I'm guessing they may have to save Tamera at least once to get her there and not be able to push her farther unless she solves the likability problem.

To me the question is if KR makes a strong enough push to make it worth cutting one of them loose. (Sorry, but Hannah really doesn't look commercial to me yet.). At that point I'd dump Nic, who probably wouldn't have a long career, but his regional base and appeal to moms as well as teens will make that tough. Tamera is also on the table depending on how the audience reacts to her the next few weeks.

If Kingsland Road fans are as resilient as Union J's last year they I can see them try to wipe out the boys, but historically they are hard to wipe out. See below:

James (Week 10) (Winner)
Jahmene (Week 10) (Runner-up)
Rylan (Week 8, decision)
Marcus (Week 10) (Runner-up)
Craig (Week 7, public vote)
Matt (Week 10) (Winner)
Paije (Week 7, decision)
Aiden (Week 6, public vote)
Nicolo (Week 1, public vote)
Joe (Week 10) (Winner)
Lloyd (Week 8, public vote)
Rikki (Week 2, decision)
Eoghan (Week 10) (Third)
Austin (Week 4, decision)
Scott (Week 3, decision)
Granted, this year's Boys remind me of that five years ago, but something tells me their resilience has to do with the demographic.

I'd have Miss Dyanmix as the group 'alphas'; Rough Copy and Kingsland Road are much better but they haven't recieved half as much pimping. (I still think it's wrong a manufactured group made it through).

I think Miss Dynamix were the alphas, until the baby cat was out of the bag. Performing at a stressful pace is a miscarriage waiting to happen, and I don't think the producers will stoop that low. Now they're scrambling to reconfigure the hierarchy (former third-stringers Kingsland Road are now being pimped).

True. I can see them pimping Kingsland Road and Rough Copy until they're both on the tour then drawing straws to see which becomes which one gets focus. (Or they'll have a look at the voting figures...Would they dare)

I thought producers really see the voting figures.

I always thought that in the past the producers looked at the voting figures every week before the judge's vote so they could tell the judges whether to send it to deadlock or not.

I think they also look at the voting figures all the time to see who is doing well so that they can start their underhand tactics if need be, like with Chris last year and Mary in 2010.

Nicholas. I expect the other 3 will be the final 3. Maybe swap Rough Copy for Kingsland Road.

Sam Bailey because they'll finally realize that she's way too old-fashioned and will never have a hit.

It's simple, really. They will turn against Sam Bailey sooner or later. It doesn't matter how well she sings, Syco has no use for a 35-years old woman and that's why the show will try to take her out before the final.
