Just don't get it....

So, if the judges go to deadlock on Sunday, the unfortunate loser of Saturdays "flash vote" automatically gets the boot.

That means that this act has 2 chances of being booted off the show (3-1 vote against or a 2-2 deadlock) whereas the Sunday loser only has 1 chance of getting the boot (3-1 vote against).

Is there anyone out there, preferably from the show itself, who can explain just how this is fair ?

This is a TV show with a lot on the line. Fairness isn't high on the priority list

given most weeks it will be acts from two different categories in the bottom two and their own mentor will obviously save their own act , this new system means that the act that finished bottom on the Saturday needs saved by both the "neutral" judges

I think it is fair

It is actually the same as before really when you think about it.

Deadlock always meant the person with the fewest votes left - it is still the case

They're not intended in "fairness," just "keeping people on the edge of their seats," at least, that's what they think they're doing that....and making pots of cash, at our expense..

Rich.

no its not

just because someone comes bottom of a 10 minute poll on the Saturday night does not mean they would also have came bottom of the full overnight vote

The flash vote should come on a Sunday after the sing off. Let the viewers decide who goes, bugger the judges.

But then they'd have less time for all the filler crap I suppose to pad out the hour.

It could be a scheme for signalling, though. If a top contender has the lowest number of votes on Saturday, the fans of other contenders will be paranoid and vote like hell. This would prevent another James-Ella, at least in theory.

I thinks its very unfair. This way the talent will soon be voted out cos of a controversial performance or a weak popular singer.

It has actually made a 1 hr show that should last no longer than 25 minutes, even more boring.

I said something similar to my parents yesterday when they announced that was how it would work. They are two completely different votes. Just because one act was bottom of the votes in a flash vote on the Saturday, doesn't mean they would have been bottom of the votes overnight. Taking out one act, and then starting the vote again, would also have an effect as some people would switch their votes if their favourite isn't in the vote any more. It's not fair at all.

Does anyone know if the vote lines are open between shows?
