Richard Armitage.

Alan Carr.

Tess Daly was on his show the other week and tried to convince him to give in and do it, even just the Christmas special, and then ruined his "I'm busy on Christmas" excuse by saying it's pre-recorded.

I read a little while ago that former Breakfast presenter Sian Williams was asked but turned it down to save her kids being made fun out of at school.

Really? I would have loved to see him on strictly.
Though probably I would have been disappointed!

I have a suspicion that maybe Rebecca Adlington fee were a bit higher than strictly could wanted to afford.

To the aforementioned names add (reasons stated where known) : Cherie Blair (Unseemly), Geoff Boycott, Noel Gallagher (Too busy), J.B. Gill (Too busy), David Harewood (Costumes), Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen (Only wants to dance with his wife), Lemar, Simon Sharma (Too busy), Kirsty Wark (Too populist)

Alesha isn't a judge any more so it shouldn't affect Jamelia if she wanted to take part.

Yes, the Christmas show is prerecorded but it's prerecorded quite close to Christmas, so it would still interfere with Christmas season commitments, such as panto.

I don't think ITV allow their "stars" to do Strictly, do they? There were rumours a few years ago that either a Ant or Dec, can't remember which, was desperate to do it but because of their golden handcuffs deal with ITV it will never happen.”

Perhaps he has two left feet and on Strictly it is noticeable.

Could be both But I don't think she would be as bad as some. She appears to have a dancers look, but I could be wrong, not all slim people can dance.

Rebecca Adlington has done herself no favours by letting it be know she was turned down , the producers are unlikely to invite her again .
Who knows why she was turned down, suffice to say the producers obviously did not want her this year, maybe they did not want 2 Olympians in a row to win or maybe they were afraid of another Olympian being shown to have feet of clay like Victoria.

It is very unlikely to be an inssue purely to do with height whilst they were recruiting new pros if they wanted her enough they would have found a really tall pro, also how tall is Aljaz? He looks very tall to me.

Perhaps Rebecca Adlington was turned down a they did not want too many tall girls. Natalie, Abby, Sophie, Susannah are all very tall and they just didn't have enough tall pros to go around just a point and by the time she applied to go on it perhaps the BBC must have chosen their celebs.

What a series that lot would have made in the same year :-P

Cherie Blair would go to the opening of an envelope if there was enough money in it

I've heard Jeremy Clarkson say that the Top Gear team are regularly asked. (and regularly refuse)

I think Jeremy Clarkson would be horrible to watch. Glad he turns it down.

There are a few people who I wish had turned down Strictly - Ann Widdicombe and Lulu spring to mind.

Kirstie Allsopp would love to do it, but her C4 contract forbids it Kirstie and Phil in the same series would be fun.

Now that I'd like to see. I'd pair her with James and Phil, if he's tall enough, with Natalie Lowe.

Gyles Brandreth turned them down in 2010 because he was on a book tour at the time. Who knows? Maybe if he'd said yes we'd never have got Widdie (who herself had turned down every series since 2004!)

A lot of stars who go on to do it have turned down previous editions. From memory, Aled Jones turned down Series 1, Jimmy Tarbuck turned down the first three (until producers agreed to fly Flavia to Portugal to train with him), Sophie Ellis Bextor and Kimberley Walsh both turned down 2010 and Jerry Hall, who famously made a song and dance of turning it down, and then ended up on it anyway!

Why was Rebecca Addington turned down? If they thought the likes of Ann widdicombe could manage it then. surely Rebecca could have

Edit - just read above posts

Perhaps they had their quota for that year. Maybe she needs to apply again.

I seem to remember reading that Sharon Osbourne was lined up to do the series with Chris Hollins, Ricky Whittle etc but then dropped out before it started.

I have heard Alan Carr say that he'd love to do it, maybe his Channel 4 contract forbids it too?

I heard Jamelia the other day say that she is repeatedly offered obscene amounts of money to appear but she always turns it down. Can't think why, would have thought she'd be quite good and surely the money would come in handy.
