There is something different about Sam Bailey

Ive seen her compared to the likes of Steve Brookstein, and Tesco Mary

But there is something in the air.

Theres a very different and very powerful aura around Sam.

Ive watched her saturday performance back so many times and i still gives me goosebumps.

Compare her first audition to this performance.

She has polished up amazingly. Her stance, her posture, her presentation. The way she holds herself when she sings.

It is literally Screaming 'superstar' at me.

I think this year is going to be very different and very exciting.

The Overs have been mediocre for far to log and i now feel its time a lot of us want an older, endearing, stage presence as i feel a lot of us are sick of hip hop and boy bands coming out on top.

I think Sam could really turn the support up to 100 before too long.

This is her competition to lose.

Please dont write her off as another Mary or Steve Brookstein.

Because this is a completely different Ballpark.

I think she's like Ruth Lorenzo, except she's not rock and she's actually popular. The producers can either ride the train now or start plotting her downfall.

Please make it the former.

I don't think there's any comparison to Brookstein, or Mary..

She's in a different class vocally.

I quite like the comparison with Ruth, who I really rated as a vocalist..
I think, apart from her popularity issues, I think that Ruth, being Spanish and therefore not having a support base in this country, meant that she had to work much harder than someone who couldn't rely on "everyone in Liverpool/Scotland/Wales....insert, place of choice," according to the Gospel of St Louis, voting for them.

I'm very impressed with Sam Bailey, I couldn't care less about her image, all I worry about are the sounds I'm hearing from the T.V.

One slight concern, I'd like to see how she handles more up-tempo numbers, lest she is labelled as a "great Ballad Singer," with nothing else in armoury.

My guess is, that she'll cope with more, or less anything..including the Big Band night, should it happen.

I can't see her being Syco's first choice as winner - that's clearly Tamera, or Rough Copy as a viable second option. Expect to see all sorts of not-so-subtle methods going on once the competition heats up to typecast her as a cruise ship singer and not an 'exciting' winner.

She doesn't appeal to the under 40's and Cowell won't want her to win, he needs a win from Tamera or even Rough Copy

I don't think her pregnant girlfriend will give him that epiphany...

... of course, it could be for "diversity." An old winner is due by now, I guess.

I'd like to see her doing something like the Calvin Harris remix of 'Spectrum' to see how she gets on with something a little more relevant. I genuinely think she could pull it off. She's the same age as Nicole so I don't see why people talk of her like she's 60!!!

It's the look, I guess. People are superficial that way.

Also, Nicole has been in the public eye for a while now.

She's very good - good enough to test the truth of the OP's contention that a lot of people are waiting for such a performer. Well, quite a lot will welcome her, but whether it's nearly enough to have her win the competition is another matter. Objectively, insofar as objectivity exists at all in music, I would agree she gave the best performance on Saturday night by a considerable margin: but I'm one 54 year old who wouldn't at all mind if he never heard another power ballad for the rest of his days, and I suspect that puts me in a larger group than the group of 27 year olds who find Sam a breath of fresh air. Just a suspicion, I really don't mind either way. But XF voting isn't about any sort of intrinsic merit, it comes down to numbers - and the producers' machinations of course...

She's one of the best singers I've ever heard. She could be the new Streisand.

I am 39 and don't 'get' her. Just too samey compared to other 'overs' who have not made it in previous years.

Possibly but just doesn't do it for me. She may be great vocally but no XFactor there for me.

Not on about selling records, the whole package of touring etc and I could never, ever see her headlining Wembley Arena and apart from an album of cover versions which will hit the bargain bins sell records for that matter.

It is called the 'X Factor' and she hasn't got it otherwise she would have been discovered a long time ago.

I thought she was amazing on saturday, however i just dont think she is going to get anywhere. She would have needed to make a name for herself years ago as god forbid anyone likes an older singer nowadays.

I haven't watched much of it yet. Am catching up on the live performances today. So maybe none of them. Sam may well be the best of the bunch but still not someone whose record I would buy. I am sure she is lovely however.

I am obsessed with Dami Im from the Oz one though and IMO that is what we should be looking for in the UK version. Someone totally different who can be styled in a really unusual way and can make any song believable.

People said that about Susan Boyle. I reckon Sam would be happy with just a bit of that sort of success. There are all people of all ages and all views, not just people with a hive mnd. (And, no, I'm not a Susan Boyle fan).

I was sceptical‎ about Sam before the live shows thinking she'd be this years Maloney but she blew my socks off on Saturday! She was incredible, one of my favourite performances on the X Factor in years. It reminded me of Leona by how much better she was than everybody else. If she delivers like that every week she's got a good chance of winning the show

That's pretty much where I am at. Mostly all karaoke. I didn't mind Abi but didn't think it was great either. There's not one that I would play over and over the way I did with Ella's videos last year and Dami Im this year in Oz.

Tamera isn't my cup of tea but she could be a popstar.

She's the same age as Nicole but looks / dresses about 10 years older.

Personally I think they'll get rid of Shelley soon and build her up as the "credible" over, and then undermine her so she doesn't reach the final. She can have a quick stint in Chicago or some other West End Musical and if there's enough popular support do some sort of Andy Abrahams easy listening tour / album. Who knows? She may even get a crack at Eurovision. But winner? Not if TPTB have anything to do with it.

She's awful.

Her future career can be summed up in two words.

Mama Morton.
