Ace!

(and Sally Sparrow. She's been noticeably absent from discussions round these parts of late)

I'd really like to see the 12th running around with a regenerated version of Susan.....

I had been hoping the anniversary show would include a scene in which Susan exclaims, on seeing Amy, "Great-grandmamma, is it really you?" - but Moffatt seems to have put paid to that (may his shell be blighted!).

The return of Jamie would brighten any episode, but, like Lii, I don't think it would work for the 50th anniversary show (going purely on what's been disclosed so far).

Steven Taylor, anyone?

Susan and/or Ian for me. They make sense to celebrate the 50 years. Anyone else feels like less of a statement of the 50 mark to an extent. They'd be the perfect nod back.

I can't help wondering if comments from cast/crew about some content of the episode being "controversial" could be referring to the fact that Susan turns out NOT to be the actual blood granddaughter of the doctor...

Well... if it turns that the Doctor ran away from Gallifrey with his "granddaughter", that might well prove controversial

Surprised to find the little scene of him reminiscing about his family in Web of Fear. The show has a long history of hinting about his family, but never talking about it.

If they really want to go back then I'd say Susan would be the obvious choice. If they want to bring back a male then a Jamie cameo could be fun....or Adric.

On a personal level... Peri (Nicola Bryant) still looks damn good. I'd have no objection if she came back full time.

Any companion could be living ...with the right script.
Mighty fine call about Peri -what I think too -she still looks great! Also would be good to see her back more regularly (kind of like Sarah Jane came back), & I always thought she was poorly treated in the original series by having to act in some average stories & a Doctor who was slightly too OTT.

It has to be Susan and Ian, doesn't it? To ignore them when they were there at the very beginning would be crass in the extreme given the whole idea of a 50th anniversary special.

For me Ian is the most logical choice, we need something to bring the series full circle with the very beginning and what better than a reunion with One's first earth companion?

I think a return from Susan could add too much padding with everything else that is going on but a mention would certainly be warranted.

Adric's charred remains.
That would be hilarious!

The actor appeared on the Doctors Revisited documentary and appeared really nice though I never liked Adric myself

My pick, the only sensible choice, would be Ace

He and Barbara were a joy to watch when rewatching the first series and that is certainly almost as good as seeing Ace back

Turlough, the only companion to actively try and kill the Doctor, (is it because he's ginger?)

Nyssa, to see how she fared helping the Lazars

Tegan, maybe as she is haunted/still possessed by the Mara

It's a shame we won't get to see Barbara back. I hope there is some acknowledgement of her if not a direct mention.
