I've just signed up for Homechoice, but am still uncertain whether to go for the Homechoice wireless option or not. I have an Apple IBook with a wireless card, and already have an Airport Express adaptor in order to stream music wirelessly in the house and also so I can hide my printer in a cupboard (however, this is a different room, and so I will still need another adaptor of some sort for the Homechoice box).

However, I don't really understand the Homechoice technology, and I have to say that Customer Service weren't terribly helpful, even though I explained I was interested in taking their wireless option. I want to be able to set up a network that let's me connect to the stereo and to the internet at the same time. Am I best going for Homechoice's wireless option, and getting my existing Airport Express to talk to it? Or getting another Airport Express adaptor? I've seen a couple of posts about the problems of getting wireless to work, but nothing that helps exactly. Thanks.

Don't bother with HomeChoice's wireless option, it's just a wireless router at an inflated price. Simply plug the cable that would normally go from HomeChoice box to your computer into the Airport Express and it will work straight away. You could actually get away with buying a much cheaper wireless router - Linksys ones are known to work well with HomeChoice and are cheap, under £40. Look for ones marked as being for Cable/DSL, and don't get one with a built-in ADSL modem as this is inside the HomeChoice box already. But for simplicity of set-up you really can't go wrong with another Airport Express.

Zapomatic is right. I would just add that Airport Express is only guaranteed to work with other Airport routers, and according to Apple's website will not work to extend networks that have non-apple routers. If anyone has got Airport Express to work with non-Apple routers, please let us know.

I use Airport Express to connect straight into the HC box and it works a treat, apart from slight interference from the TV, but that's a positioning thing that I can't do anything about sadly...

I've just bought a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G because I wanted to have a wireless connection w/o paying the crazy £150 of HC wireless installation fee. The problem is that although my router is working OK (it is plugged in the HC BOX and I have a Ethernet cable from my router to my PC and it works) I can't connect via a Wireless connection. My PC does find the signal sent by my router but doesn't find any connection to the Internet ?

Do you have any idea of what the problem is ?

I have the same set up with the same router, and it works fine. Check that you have connected the settop box to the WAN input on the Linksys and not one of the four connections for PCs.

It's connected to the wan input....

So at the end of the day and with the added cost put aside, would current users of Airport Express recommend it for Homechoice for a Mac user?

Hum, seems to me this is was £125 for one PC and they came round and installed and configured it as well. Still can't see where it's over priced.

Anyway, the Airport Express works real well for my mate.

Airport Express with Homechoice is working great for me. In fact, I've never had to reboot it since I got it, unlike other routers I've had.

Make sure the computer and the HC box is on (blue light) and then turn the router on and off at the mains. When your computer detects the signal again, see if it now has internet as well. If yes, then chances are you'll have internet for an hour and then you'll have to reset the box again (and repeat hourly after that). If no, then it'll be something to do with your router settings and you'll need to log in to the router and play about with those (afraid I can't be more specific from this distance).

Ended up getting the Airport Express. It is fantastic.
