Yup. http://www.wistron.com/ are behind the Hudl...

It was a well thought through Tesco product. The other was just another Argos box shift buy that got lumped into being a competing, a badly competing at that, Argos product by the media.
It probably wasn't too bad a tablet, it just just happens that Android tablets often have to be well above the pedestal not to be called 'cheap and nasty'.

The Amazon Fire HDX and the 2013 Nexus 7 are now on that 'luxury top screen' pedestal. Some people would try and call other decent quality tablets cheap and nasty if they could.

Correctly licensed or not, the Argos tablet was/is awful. Truly awful.

Sold by a retailer that obviously didn't care too much about quality for its customers. Tesco on the other hand clearly wanted to make something decent, and use it as a stepping stone towards making more devices (possibly including a smartphone this year).

That's a short term view vs a long term view, and I know which one will pay off. Well, we already do after this mess!

You should have read the forums before you bought it then.

I don't think the bias views on forums are a good pointer to whether you should buy a product. Reviews from those who actually own the products they comment on would be much more useful, preferably someone you know.

I don't think he did buy it, did he?

Despised it enough to claim first hand knowledge of it.
I'd be interested where it went badly wrong apart from being a badly timed release.

I'll bet the Argos tablets will be collectors items in a few years due to the small number actually sold.

I can't help being interested to know where the Tegra Note 7 would've come in that round-up...

Seemed an attractive looking budget device.
And at that acute angle the display did not seem so bad.

Its fascinating that lots of people complain about 1024x600 when its aqs adept for media as the iPad. You simply don't get the 168 lines of black bars when playing videos.
And for playing games, considering it beat the Archos in benchmarks, by same logic it must therefore then have beaten the Hudl .

Like I said, it often seems to be as #27

Pretty high up I'd imagine. Sadly it missed out being part of the test.
