Interesting that the BBC have confirmed that they do want to swap HD channels with the SD counterparts on Freeview but can't due to EPG rules. Hopefully it will happen for Freeview viewers sometime soon.

I'd call it caution rather than doubt.

As they are one of Freeview's major stakeholders, you'd hope that's sooner rather than later.

In anycase they've sort of broken the so called 'Genre Rules' by
putting CBBC and CBeebeebies HD on 73/74,

That'll teach me for not reading something properly!

Not really. It's part of Digital UK LCN policy - originating from the same consultation - designed to protect children from Adult channels. Any Childrens or Adult HD channels will appear in their relevant genre - and are eligible for SD/HD swapping.

It is parents' job to protect their children as they see fit by engaging parental controls in the TV and locking the relevant channels. No amount of EPG numbering will help, children know how to enter a channel number directly or pull up the channel list/epg.

Just did a scan on 31 (Wenvoe)and have all the HD channels on the epg. Al Jazeera is broadcasting. I normally get a signal strength of 50-55% on Mendip, Wenvoe is showing 40%.

I never thought I'd tune to Wenvoe again, but am glad it's available.
