Tardis noise
Central cake
15-10-2013
Hi,

Does anyone know of a site where they host a clean mp3 or have a copy of the Tardis materializing (or the breaks left on) noise?

Many thanks.

BBC website had a Doctor Who site for the 2005 relaunch which was replaced with the new Dr who site for the 11th doctor and Moffat taking over.

There used to be a download section for various sound clips from episodes and one of them was the TARDIS sound.

Last time I looked the original site was still active but this was 3/4 months ago when I was looking for ideas for a fancy dress party....

One of the recent documentaries on Watch reminded us of River's comment about the noise just being because the Doctor leaves the brakes on.

While it was funny, it does rather fly in the face of previous continuity (pretty much every TARDIS we've ever seen in the Classic show makes the same noise). Also, the guy who invented the noise wanted a sound to indicate ripping open the space/time continuum which I think is a cool idea.

Personally, I tend to take River's comment with a large dose of salt

Couldnt agree more and like a lot of Moffats writing that changes established history just for a laugh / to make his changes to the shows history more important than anyone else.

Moffats rewrote the established history of Neil Gaimans The Doctors Wife from this amazing scene where Idris claims to have stolen the doctor which makes their relationship even closer (better) to change it to The Doctor being prompted to pick that Tardis by his wonder girl companion (his own creation)

This is only one instance of over the course of Moffats history on the show where this has occured.

It's not even an instance of contradicting continuity. The TARDIS always provided him with the opportunity, Clara just made sure he noticed it.

And you can't seriously take River winding the Doctor up as a statement of Truth. This is the woman who claimed the Doctor didn't teach her to fly the TARDIS, and that she didn't know who Amy and Rory were.

Even if you consider Clara leading the Doctor to the TARDIS as a contradiction (which I'm not convinced it is), I don't see it as a continuity issue, anyway. Clara jumped into the timeline and changed everything so it doesn't matter what happened before, now it's all changed.

It does tend to make continuity with old stuff less of an issue, I guess. Any changes can just be put down to the GI and Clara's alterations

Clara telling The Doctor what Tardis to take always happened otherwise there is no answer to why Clara was in Victorian London and the Dalek asylum.

There is no answer to that anyway. If it always happened how come the stars started disappearing when the GI jumped in the timestream and how come the Doctor doesn't remember ever seeing Clara before?

Also, if it had always happened then why did the GI even bother jumping in the timestream knowing about the other Claras and that the whole thing would just lead to an already happened closed loop and why was the Doctor worried that the GI jumping in would change things if it was always a closed loop where nothing changes?

My theory is that it's a changing loop like in the Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS. First time round, the GI and Clara jump in and Clara goes to Victorian England and the Asylum (and maybe to a shop to give her younger self a telephone number for the Doctor's TARDIS). In the second time round the loop, the GI and Clara go further back and change more things, including guiding the Doctor to the TARDIS (after, presumably, the GI tried to lead him to a different TARDIS).

Maybe Clara's mum has something to do with where Clara ends up in the Doctor's time stream.
