ϟ Tess: Dave Myers is no Anne Widdecombe - he's likable
Speaking to Digital Spy at the launch of Disney on Ice last night (October 14), Daly dismissed comparisons between Widdecombe, who competed on Strictly in 2010, and this year's apparent 'joke act'.
Asked if Hairy Bikers star Myers was the new Widdecombe, the 44-year-old replied: "Yeah, a loveable version. He's already a better dancer and he has a lot more personality." http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/showbiz/...s-likable.html |

I am sorry I am in the minority and will probably get shouted on here, but I do not like Dave, now I know who he is. I used get mixed up between Dave and Mark but now I know Mark is the better dancer, Dave is the rubbish dancer and makes rubbish jokes just like Anne Widdecombe both dislikeable IMO.

Thankfully I never saw Widdy in action as I only started watching in series 9. But I feel profound distaste for her and don't like endearing Dave being compared with horrible Widdy at all. He is entering fully into the spirit of the programme and doing everything Karen asks of him (and possibly more ... not always a good thing).

Dave is a delight to watch and he is putting 100% into his dances, unlike Widdy who didnt put any efforting into her dances
To compare Dave to Widdy is just wrong - on all levels |

Thank you for starting this thread with a normal title before someone else could come along and start a mangled TABLOID headline

Meh. He annoys me as a cook. Thinks he's witty but he's not and as for his dancing, I find myself wishing for the weeks to pass by quickly so that the dross can be eliminated. It's a dance programme, not a showcase for those who think they're all that 'n a bag of chips.

Dave's dances? I'd like to see him do some. Stomping around the floor throwing his arms in the air and gurning is not dancing, and his expression when any of the judges criticize him suggests the poor deluded guy actually thinks he is quite good. Nor does he come across to me as being particularly likeable.
I do think that he is relishing the audience/public's reaction to him and does get a bit carried away when he's being cheered on by the studio audience. But then he is only human and he's not accustomed to performing in front of a live audience. |

Look at the hostile sneering that goes on in this place nowadays. Do these people really want to be a bad imitation of a bad columnist?

She's not as air-head as some thought she was now, is she?

I don't think Tess is doing herself any favours by these comments. She may not have liked AW, but a lot of other people did.
Why she felt the need to make such a comment is beyond me. Yes, they may both be seen as "the joke act" but to compare them on a personal level comes across as a bit spiteful and nasty imo. |

Erm... am I the only one here who thinks comparisons between Widdy and Dave are actually fair and correct?
I mean, yes, they're polar opposites in terms of personality, but in terms of dance ability, there are times I really wish Dave wouldn't give it his all... his Cha Cha, for instance. Closely followed by his Paso... |

Closely followed by his Paso... But at the same time he's trading somewhat off people finding his approach to it all amusing, and this is a risky strategy the longer it goes on. I would agree with Ms Hardy's assessment on last night's ITT. Ease up on the act and put all energy into trying to dance well. |

Perhaps like many of us Tess couldn't cope with an ageing woman with outdated views on life being seved up as a loveable old biddy having a laugh on a Saturday night ? |

It is possible to be both though. Just because your views are positively Catholic doesn't mean you can't have a laugh at yourself and and try be decent fun at the same time...
Sorry, doesn't work for me. I couldn't bring myself to like someone who is homophobic, against the ordination of women, and advocated the shackling of pregnant prisoners in real life, so I'm afraid I can't giggle at them on the TV. ( Not that I found her remotely funny ) |

If anything she annoyed me less than Dave who is an infinitely nicer person... |
