EE Jack's exit was an absolute insult

After all the interesting storylines the character has been involved in, I think his exit last night was an absolute insult to Scott Maslen. They could have done so much better as the exit was not at all interesting.

How many threads are needed on Jack's exit?

The episode matched his character in that it was dull and not really mentionable.

Even though his only purpose was to sleep around, I felt he deserved a little more for an exit.

He seemed to forget his phone charger, razor blades, shaving cream, shampoo, passport, laptop, hair gel, car documents, visit office in car sales cabin to handover to someone etc...

He said, he will send out for his things!

Agreed. That exit was no reason for Sam Womack to come back for...!

Ronnie and Jack were back together for a week, had a few sh*gs and broke up again...

I actually couldn't care less about what kind of exit he got, I'm just glad he's gone.

He couldn't even be bothered to wait around a bit longer in order to say goodbye to Amy, his daughter.

A lot of the "leavers" say that

Maybe they all have butlers called Jeeves, and a "little man" to do their fetching and carrying..

He did take his passport. He also mentioned going to see his disabled daughter in France.

It was a weird exit though, at the beginning of the episode he wanted to propose to Ronnie and at the end he had walked out and left the Square without saying goodbye to his family

It's Jack, he could never make a decision and stick to it.

Jack was not an important character but I agree his exit was poor.

just another rushed exit that we've come to expect

It would have made more sense if Jack and Ronnie had decided to leave together to make a new start somewhere. (Though the new start would have been better if it had happened after Max was released from prison or tried for attempted murder, as an ex-policeman, you would have thought that this would have held some importance for Jack).

It wouldn't. It would have made more sense for Ronnie to start a new life somewhere else and Jack should have crawled back into the swamp he crawled out of.

Jack was an unpopular character but not sure if that was down to Scott Maslen's Acting...

He didn't even get a Friday exit, now that IS an insult when you've been in the show 6 years!

Instead his scenes were sandwiched between the most pathetic yawn-inducing 'story' of the Miss Queen Vic Teen contest:sleep:! I'll bet Scott was fuming about that. No wonder he said Corrie is better than EE now in a recent interview!

His exit was unbelievably rushed and the speed of it just made no sense. Still I suppose it's typical of what we've come to expect from Newman! Her last episodes on screen can't come soon enough for me:yawn:

That was hardly what Womack was brought back for.

If it was, they'd have given them a happy ending and had them leave together.

This stint is trying to rectify all the mistakes they made with Ronnie's character and try to carve out a longterm future for her in the hopes Womack will return permanently once her six months are over.

I just don't get it. We've known for almost a year he was leaving, and Newman knew miles before then. He's a Branning, has been involved in some of the biggest storylines over the past 6 years, and he's an attractive actor. In short, he's everything the EE writing team swoon over.

I mean, they had ages to plan his exit. Plus, they'd brought Ronnie back. Everything about Jack leaving was begging for an explosive ending. Not him dying, but something big. I always thought he could have been stalked by someone from his bent copper days (which was NEVER EXPLORED. NOT ONCE. Fair enough, this is miles from Newman's love and warmth fluffy bunny Eastenders, but the likes of Kirkwood (who, apparently, is quite a nutter on Hollyoaks at the moment) and Santar have NO EXCUSE for this), and have to do a runner to keep his family safe, just when he could see a reunion with Ronnie on the cards.

Instead, he did a Tanya and Zainab; up and left without a moments thought. All three characters and actors deserved better. It was like his leaving was written over lunch quickly, the real effort going into the obviously much more important Miss Teen Vic. I mean, really?

And to think the only exit I think Newman even did justice with was Derek's, a hugely unpopular one note character.
