A new TV ad for the Now TV Box airs in "roadblock" form across major terrestrial and satellite channels at 8.15pm this evening. Now TV are also sponsoring Channel 5 US drama strands. Over the coming weeks digital partnerships with Buzzfeed and Digital Spy will launch.

40D on sky is not that great content wise not when you compare it to ps3 which has a massive archive of content from past shows to present, I'm still puzzled as to why sky can't do it on a HD box. Maybe there just only interested in 7 day catch up which is a shame really.

Its some Sky stuff over the internet basically, without long-term subscriptions.

Sky Sports at £10 a day (yeah...)
Sky Movies at £9 a month
and soon Sky1, Atlantic, Living & Arts for £10 a month.

It'll be interesting to see what channels they get from other broadcasters, I'd imagine Viacom will be involved.

Now TV is a little confusing because it describes two related, but separate functions.

a) Now TV can describe an online streaming service for Sky, without the need of long-term subscriptions. At the moment this is a Sky movie package that normally costs £15 per month (and you can cancel any time), but you can find it cheaper if you hunt, and a "top-up" Sports package at an expensive £10 per day, but designed for people who don't watch enough sport for a full contract, but may be interested in the odd game.

A review of the Movie service can be found here.

b) The Now TV STB. This is a hardware device that allows subscribers to the previously mentioned Now TV service to easily and cheaply watch on a television. It is essentially a cloned Roku box and is probably the most affordable smart TV set-top-box on the market at £10.

Although it works with the Now TV subscription or Sports, it doesn't need that to be useful as it offers the BBC iPlayer, Demand 5 (soon to be 4oD) and others free of charge. You can buy the box and never subscribe to Sky's service, but still use this.

A hardware review can be found here.

If you click even more , the image of the TV shows a 4oD app and a Sky Store app , both have Coming Soon under them.

The standard price for Sky Movies month pass seems to have dropped to £8.99 (I can't see any small print about it being limited to the first two months after the free trial like there used to be), I'm still on a £2.50/month deal until January.

That's correct , they've abandoned the £15 price its now £8.99 per month.

Just picked up the Now TV box with 3 months movie pass @ Argos for £24.99. However after an online chat with Now TV I have discovered that if you have already signed up for a 30 day free trial you will only get 2 months as the Free trial includes the first month. I argued the point that this was not made clear when I purchased the pack, or can I see that mentioned anywhere but they said that the free trial is an offer and the pack is an offer and you can't use one offer with another offer!
So how can you get a free trial and then get offered these discounts you all seem to get? Is that not using one offer with another offer?

I didn't take a free trial, I signed up using a 6 months for £15 offer (cancel at any time) with the first months payment of £2.50 taken straight away. The normal sign-up at the time was 30 day free trial followed by 2 months at £8.99 then £15/month. People that cancel renewel seem to get emailed good offers to come back currently from what I've read online.

I understand this and probably shouldn't have added that to the end of my post about offers after the free trial. My point was more the fact Now TV is on sale for £24.99 with a 3 month pass that isn't 3 months if you have already taken a free trial (or it is if you include the free month!). Nowhere does this get mentioned - but Now TV think it makes sense that you cant expect to get 3 months movie pass If you have already took up the 1 month free trial. I suggested the pack should say 3 months movie pass (including your free month).
So you try it for 1 month, think its good - see a pack with the box with 3 months movies included but then find you have already used 1 month during the trial?
I thought this was unclear and misleading?

I would probably have got a much better deal just buying the box and taking the free month then cancel - and wait for a much better offer. Or even pay for another month in a few months time instead of 3 months in a row! I know its my fault, I should have read all the information first (except, Now TV said it isn't mentioned anywhere other than you can't use one offer in conjunction with another).

One other point - I think this is the wrong place to have posted this - it has nothing to do with other services coming to Now TV - Sorry

Is Now TV a truly 'on demand' service where you only pay when you use the service. I would like to view the US Major golf tournaments and the Ryder Cup but have no interest in watching a different sport or films or any other Sky content. Most golf majors last four consecutive days so how do I watch them on Now TV and how much will I have to pay for each Major or Ryder Cup.

Now TV Movies Pass are on-demand, but you are correct, the Sport Day Pass couldn't really be described as that.

They removed the 'On Demand' movies last year after only a couple of months, in favour of a subscription model.

For a four day golf tournament, you would pay £40, ie £10 a day. For that, you get access to all of the Sky Sports channels. Expensive, but I suppose cheaper than actually attending the tournament!

The movies are On Demand but they are not Pay Per View, they are Pay Per Month subscription. This also includes option to watch the Sky movie channels if you can't be bothered to find a movie in the archive, can't say I've bothered with the movie channels though.

The Sport is Pay Per Day (any 24 hour period from activation) for the live channels, again not something I've bothered with.

I wonder what model(s), package(s) and pricing they'll choose for the entertainment channels/TV shows.

Straight up monthly subscription for the linear channels I'd imagine. Sky Store is also coming for PPV movies.

I always wonder why anyone would bother with the live channels on the movie pass when all the movies are available On Demand.

I think the point is that some of the movies on the Sky Movies linear channels are not available on the On Demand service. If they are all available, I agree I really don't see the point in having them on both. Maybe Sky are just trying to make the service look better value than it is.

A big shake-up of the Sky Sports service is needed. It's ridiculous that they charge £10 for every day that you want to use it. I know they don't want people switching from their satellite service to NOW TV but they should introduce some multi-day or week long passes. Watching a golf tournament or F1 weekend is currently extremely expensive on NOW TV.
