Just watched this as I missed it last night. She was great. I take back what I said. Her posture is improving immensely and her movement is very smooth. And Brendan"s choreography was very nice

After looking back at some of the others, this was definitely the best dance of the night for me. Sophie danced it beautifully, Brendan's choreography was great as was the music and costumes. That's the second 'Dance of the Night' for me from Sophie so far this series.

So nice to see Brendans teaching getting praised by the judges as not being about him but his partner too many pros distract front their partner by showing themselves off

Charleston.l, then foxtrot best of series so far by country mile

Loved it. It has been the only one to give me the goosebump factor ....

After a few difficulties with the software I can start putting up Sophie's performances, starting with this

Sophie Ellis-Bextor - The Foxtrot
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Q1s8T92wxo

I agree Natalie is the best this year, but Sophie isn't far behind and it depends on which partner they get. To my mind Brendan is the best of the male pros by a mile, and if his career had gone the competition route, with the right partner, he probably would have made world ten-dance champion. In fact it could happen yet - Karen Hardy changed partners several times. Brendan and Iveta - that would be something I would like to see.

I was in the studio last night and their dance really was magical- my favourite of the night. I also bumped into Sophie with her husband on the way out and told her I thought it should have got four 9s. She said thank you and asked if I had enjoyed the night. She was really lovely.

I thought Sophie looked exquisite - but Abbey was far better than her. Much as I thought it would be. Abbey's technique has improved but Sophie's hasn't. Even Craig echoed my advice about 'pulling up'! She doesn't.

Not at all surprised. Brendan does routines but he does not teach dance.

He's made the same mistake with all of his partners. Mind you, he is not the sharpest tool in the box.

Wish Sophie had been paired with Pasha and dear Brenda should have been given Rachel! It would serve him right!

Ho hum.

Well, apart from the scores obviously.

Maybe its just me. Sophie is a nice girl, appears to be very polite, but I just don't see the Sophie love.

BIB, I completely agree. Natalie is the more polished right now, but Sophie really is right up there with her. That foxtrot was beautiful, and aside from a few issues with her shoulders and hands, it was perfect. Her partnership with Brendan also works a lot better than Natalie's with Artem. Maybe Kara cursed Artem lol - every celeb he has will be compared to the chemistry he had with Kara, and they all fall flat. Natalie is a technician - unsurpassed when it comes to technique. But if Sophie keeps learning at this rate she'll be right up there with her, and with her partnership with Brendan being so good, she might just overtake her.

Which give such an accurate picture of performance.

(Mark=Natalie=Ben=Susanna just for starters)

They get sillier each week! Have no idea what the judges and producers are up to. It's almost farcical

It's nice to know it looked as good in the studio as it did on TV. My favourite dance of the night as well, She seems a lovely person and seems to have a great relationship with Brendan, who is my favourite pro.

I agree that Natalie is the better technician but both Sophie and Abbey give a better artistic delivery of the dance. They both just seem to feel it more even though Sophie has been described as cool I think her steps are clean and enjoyable. Maybe it's the relationship with their pro partners? I just think Natalie and Artem tend to show off!

i don't agree with that at all. On here, it's almost like you can have performance or technical ability, but not both. Natalie has both in spades. I like all three of them for different reasons though, even though Abbey's Latin has been very average.

I'm a bit worried about Sophie's Cha Cha. Fingers crossed!

I don't see this at all, to be honest. Natalie has excellent artistic delivery as well as technique.

Sophie is getting there, but still has problems in both areas although this varies with the dance.

She's good mind, and I'm enjoying watching her, but I'm not seeing improvements fundamentally.

The trouble is that Sophie and Abbey have really only proved that they can do the Ballroom dances well (other than Sophie's Charleston). A lot of contestants have been able to do Ballroom, but not Latin. Michael last year was totally crap at the Latin dances and even he could do Ballroom well (probably helped a great deal by being in hold).

Until they produce a great Latin dance, I won't be convinced that they are anything special. I think Natalie is streets ahead and will remain so.

Spot on.

I'm not at all sure Sophie will manage this cha cha well. But we'll have to see.

Its all subjective in my opinion . You enjoy a dance for lots of reasons , one important part of it is liking the person and it makes you enjoy it more .I love watching Sophie , I am not an expert and dont know always know a cha cha from a salsa so the technique is not important for me really
Susanna could dance like a pro and I would still prefer to watch Sophie even if she made mistakes .I look forward to Sophies dance , I enjoy Deborahs too but can phase out when Susanna is on as it leaves me cold no matter that she does .

I often wonder do people who know nothign about dance enjoy it more because we dont see flaws or watch for them .I suppose both dancers and non dancers enjoy in a different way ,

Whereas I find Sophie boring to watch. She is very one paced and unengaged with the dance from my position on the sofa. I can't tell if she's loving it or hating it with every fibre of her being. She kind of drifts through the dance in a very lackadaisical fashion.

Susanna, much as I don't particularly like her or the partnership, gives me so much energy and passion for every dance. She brings a smile to your face at her enthusiasm, it may not be well danced, but at least you can tell she's loving it.

Horses for courses I guess.
