As the dancers do various hours and basically appear to be at the beck and call of the celeb's how do they work out payment?
If you get a mad for it who wants to practice 18 hrs a day do you get a 'bonus' above someone who does 3 hrs a day ?

IE are they contracted for a set number of hours per week/series etc?

Not 100 % sure! but they used to be contracted at a set fee by the BBC, and pretty much everything they did whilst on the show, was controlled by their contract, but that was Darren Bennett who told me this back in 2005, things may be different now! But I think the Beeb are still very protective in all aspects of this show.......

As far as I know (I read it somewhere) the professionals get paid a set fee, and every professional gets the same amount and how hard they work for that fee is up to them!

What I mean is Artem and Natalie could train for 10 hours a day, whereas Janette and Julian could train for 2 hours a day - but Artem and Janette still get paid the same amount despite the difference in hours logged. (i picked those names at random, no idea of they're accurate or not!). However, I imagine the professionals want to win - this is their full time job after all, and something they've done competitively for years - so I imagine they'd be happy to get a 'trier' who is willing to put in long hours (contrast James and Denise/Pamela/Gabby/Cherie with James and Georgina). It might seem unfair if some professionals log more hours than others for the same amount of money, but they all make more for 4 months work than I do in a year so I'm not too sympathetic towards the ones that work harder. (Having said that, they're the worst paid of the people that appear onscreen, except maybe the band - don't know about them - which I do think is unfair).

Back in series 8 the celebrity's salaries were bonus-ed - everybody got the same starting rate, then if they made it so far in the competition they got a bonus, then if they made it to the final they got another bonus - so Matt, Kara and Pamela were paid more than Scott and Gavin, who were paid more than Goldie for example - but I don't know if the same bonus scheme applied to the professionals, or if it still applies at all.

"Well, it's up to yoo guvnor, I can do yer basic celeb wiv a couple of spin turns for yer basic week one exit for a monkey, I can make a comedy turn out of 'em with crash helmet and everyfink for a used Jag, or I can make 'em fly on wires and whirl like Whittle for a new one wiv working electrics"

I think the celebs themselves are contractually obligated to put in a minimum number of hours training per week, too.
