Kate Oates has now cast the lads and according to her thery're all "easy on the eye and the girls will so excited to have some fresh meat in the Village."
She said someone had to cast three good looking lads. I ask why they all had to be good looking?
This sounds more like casting for Hollyoaks than ED.

Oh so the usual merry go round of shagging, Chas, Debbie and the woman who has been most passed around the village blokes when she returns - puppet face Katie!

I think one of them may be Ex Hollyoaks , but also bear in mind what Kate calls Good looking viewers may not.....saying that, there has been a gap in the Hunk stage for a while....it does need a few decent looking young men here and there too add too the scenery ,,,

Moira will have an affair with the dad.

I think for the sons, they could be any age so I'm thinking either Chas, Priya (presuming her and David split), Debbie, Katie, Gemma/Belle (if one of them is quite young), Alicia (if she splits with Dom and doesn't get with David) or Victoria

Again, seem too have totaly overlooked the fact one of them may be gay!

Agree. Why not focus on creating interesting characters and not just on casting "hunks"? Can't say I'm excited about their arrival. If I wanted Hollyoaks, I'd watch Hollyoaks.

I think he'll go with Katie. These days she goes for blokes old enough to be her dad.
There's no news of anyother new arrivals apart from the Bartons so that would tie in with the Katie spoiler the other day.

Jealousy is a terrible thing, Sammy Winward is beautiful

Emmerdale is lacking red heads so I'm guessing this is a way of incorporating the ginger demographic

They might be interesting characters, who happen to be good looking? It doesn't have to be one or the other.

Perhaps. But it usually is. You just need to look at recent EE. With the exception of Jacqueline Jossa, and possibly New Peter, all of their 'out of a modelling catalogue' casting has been a disaster.

I think they will cast lads who have a passing resemblance to their on screen father Bill Ward, this is a good thing isn't it?

What good looking men are actually in the soap at present? They have to get some good looking men in to measure things up, the attractive women outweigh the attractive men at the moment and there needs to be a balance

Aaron was hardly a conventional "hunk" though. Just my opinion. Don't come after me Aaron fans.

Another example then: the Barton children. All pretty faces. All terrible characters/actors.

Have too say I find the title of this thread a bit sexist! It's not just Girls these "hunks" are going to excite....Just as Aaron didn't just have male fans...

THIS!

Some would say Cain, David, Jai and Adam were attractive ...Declan and Andy at a push ... but we defo need some younger lads to level it out...Sean's too young to fancy ...It's just wrong lol

Seeing as they have got rid of Carl and Cameron now I'm quite pleased with this news! I do quite enjoy some eye candy at 7pm!! We only really have Cain left now... And I don't think David can be counted as eye candy though as his character is such a wet blanket...

Not sure if this is true but I heard one of the boys is Gilly from HO, if this is right he isn't good looking at all.

That's a pretty harsh thing to say about a teenage boy's appearance.

ED has its share of attractive men - Cain, Adam, Andy, David, Declan are all good looking/attractive depending on your tastes.

They would be better to cast good actors who can create interesting characters. They were lucky with Jeff Hordley and Matthew Wolfenden, and in the past with Rik Makarem, and the actors who played Carl and Matthew King (temporary memory blip, I've forgotten their names). I suspect that in most of these cases, while attractiveness would be a factor, acting ability would be the over-riding quality the casting director was looking for. Here's hoping that's the case with the new Bartons. I have high hopes for the father, who was good (and fanciable!) in Corrie.

Sean doesn't look owt like a Girl and is turning out to be a great little actor.... He need's a mate though so am thinking one of the Barton lads will be his age range to fill that gap a bit...might get more school scenes then too like the old days.

Don't forget the casting director picked Jamie Shelton who plays Robbie, he isn't easy on the eye and really can't act to save his life.

He looks better without his hat, what's wrong with saying he looks like a girl? He has an androgynous look about him which is not a bad thing in the modelling industry, I knew people would be offended which is why I put no offence on the end.

Touchy people on here sometimes I forget, my apologies

So if you were a teenage boy reading this, you would be quite happy to see that comment? It's not being touchy it's appreciating how the actor might feel as a teenager. I'm sure h e would appreciate that you didn't mean any offence (something which it's very easy to say) but I'm also not sure that a teenager would be aware of the benefits of androgyny to the modelling industry. Let's put it this way, if his classmates thought the same way, are they more likely to say 'You look like a girl' or 'You look like you would be a great success in the modelling field?' I'm not saying the actor does feel insecure about his looks, which are perfectly fine. Just that it's unneccessary to make these types of comments, especially when the actor involved is a teenager, and at an age when people are especially insecure about that sort of thing.
