I distinctly remember the BIB, and I'm sure you're right about the rest. So yes he was definitely of the (nonetheless unproveable) opinion that Gennie was going to die either way. Hence why he could have said to Debbie "you'd have been charged" rather than a less certain "you might've/could've been"

I think to suggest Debbie should be thanking him would certainly have fitted into Cameron's deranged-ness
