I had a text yesterday from EE that read "Good news !! as part of your EE plan you now get a free service called EE recommends which sends you special offers from other great brands via text"

Forgive me if I'm overlooking something but what part of "we want to spam you" is good news ?

Yeah that doesn't sound like much of a deal at all. I'd contact them and ask them to update your privacy settings.

Here you go:

"TO STOP EE RECOMMENDS MESSAGES:

Just text STOP to 300000."

This service uses information EE has about you like your age, gender, the phone you have and where you live.
Makes you wonder if even after sending 'Stop' this information is still being shared/or is kept.

Yes, that STOP code was in my text. I was just amused by the mentality that could think that sending me junk texts would be good news.

For the sake of protecting their brand you'd think they wouldn't risk annoying customers.

As far as I remember you can opt out of getting the messages but you can't opt out of them using your information.

But it IS good news. They're opening your world to offers for products and services you may not want or need..

On a more serious note, I would be annoyed if my network just assumed I'd want my details passing on like this.
