How is 20 minutes enough to register the votes of the nation?

Have I got this wrong? Tess previously announced we only have 20 minutes to vote.( Potentially 9 million viewers if they bother to vote.)

That doesn't seem right, do they have some new super duper software to register the votes of the nation?

Sounds fishy to me. Just saying.

I think 20-30 minutes is about right. The online voting is very easy to rig, and the shorter the window the better, and it should curb the more mental of the multidiallers. It shouldn't take you 20 minutes to pick the phone up from your sofa, if you want to vote.

I don't want to be kept waiting for the spoiler any longer than necessary so a short window is fine by me.

It was a bit squirly the first week but much smoother last Saturday.

I wonder how many voted on line and how would they be counted .

I wonder why they would need any longer, except to spend a fortune on the phone or fiddle with the on-line vote.

The peak time for voting on any show with a public phone vote is always 20-30 minutes. Any longer than that is just trying to eke out as much money as possible from the public and not especially helpful when the broadcaster isn't making any money from the votes!

Most people who watch don't vote. Even for the final it won't be anything like 9m people voting. Also it's not like the votes have to be consecutive . There's a whole lot of phone lines available and as many online votes can be placed at the same time as the system can handle. In total they're going to be capable of registering several thousand votes per second

Plenty of time - how long does it take to phone in or press a button to vote online?

You don't think they actually count all the votes?

They just contact their bookies, see where the betting is and make up the result

Yes all seems strange to me as well they go to all the trouble to create a show to discover someone with the X Factor then want voting over quickly so does seem strange

It's probably mainly a practical concern anyway, what with the recording that needs to be done.

My internet crashed and when i got back on about 30 minutes later i'd missed it. Of course, couldn't even google the numbers to vote by phone so I missed out this week
