I have to say those are brilliant ratings for Above Suspicion. Didn't expect to see it grow. It's not often a new ITV drama proves to be such a hit.

Soaps were well up as well.

Only 1 Monday show during BB9 managed to get that in officials so for CBB to get that in overnights is promising

I still think it can beat BB9, although it might be dragged down a bit with tonights second show.

CBB getting 3.8m is excellent and a very good show last night too.

Thats the highest Monday episode of any BB since the middle of the race row two years ago.

Excellent ratings for ITV all night. What about News at Ten then?

That is fantastic for Above Suspicions. I thought it would get over 6m, but not to actually grow its audience! I think it's now going to get a full series commision, and could be getting 6m+ on a weekly basis.

The soaps also were quite high, particularly Emmerdale and the second Corrie. Emmerdale is obviously beniftting from the absence of The One Show, so I think this period is crucial in trying to persuade viewers to stick with it instead of turning back to BBC1 when TOS returns.

The Diary of Anne Frank and EastEnders did well for BBC1, but it was quite a disappointing night of ratings for them on the whole. I don't think Traffic Cops should have been shown last night anyways. BBC News is a bit down on what it usually gets, so it's annoying we didn't get the ITV News rating! I think it must have rated very well (compared to normal).

Good night for Channel 4 between 9-11pm. Celebrity Big Brother brought in some decent ratings, I haven't seen a Monday episode rate so highly for a while. Surviving Gazza also did well.

The return of the soaps to Five rated a bit disappointingly I think. I thought Neighbours would have been closer to the 2m mark, but I think it'll rise as people realise it's back. Fifth Gear did ok, while Urban Justice got over the 1m aim, though nothing spectacular.

Hopefully we'll get the News at Ten rating when the BARB officials come out in a few weeks time! I reckon it will have got 3.5-4m tbh with such a decent lead in.

I would have thought Five would advertised Neighbours a little better than what was shown. Maybe than it would have hit the 2 million mark at 5:30pm

Wow ITV1 did very well last night.
Emmerdale with 8.45m which is excellent. Corrie with 9.8m then 10.56m, then Above Suspicion beating yesterdays ratings with 7.34m. All brilliant ratings, Well done ITV.

Eastenders did very well with 10m. I guess Monday night is a strong night for tv, i am surprised with Emmerdale though, one of its best ratings in weeks, if not months. Just a shame the xmas ep did not get anything like that.

EDIT: I forgot the One Show had finished which will have boosted emmerdales ratings, lets hope they can keep it up.

I agree. I am really looking forward to Whitechapel, and i will also watch Law and Order: UK.

I think ITV have learnt from last year that good drama is what they do best and they are getting back to doing that. Lots of dramas just in winter and spring alone. Lets hope they all do well.

Well it looks like people have returned to their TV's in the New Year! Those are a very strong set of figures.

Above Suspicion has been a great hit for ITV and one they'll be hoping to be replicated by their longer series like Law and Order: London. The Traffic Cops repeat was exceedingly lazy from BBC One and got deservingly poor figures as a result.

The soaps were significantly up on before Christmas, with Emmerdale continuing to perform strongly while The One Show is away. I'll be watching that clash with renewed interest next week when it returns. Corrie and EastEnders both saw very significant rises too - and I'm sure both BBC and ITV will be relieved to see them top 10 million again.

BBC2 had a great night with the very popular Masterchef returning to compliment the ever successful University Challenge and Three Men in More Than One Boat.

I wonder how Emmerdale will do tonight with its hour episode. I have a feeling EE will do better as it has quite a strong story at the minute with the brannings. But emmerdale has Matthew Kings funeral which i have a feeling may also do well. We'll have to see tomorrow.

News at Ten got 3.1m and 15% according to ITV Media. Also, they are stating that Emmerdale got 8.0m, which would suggest that MG's ratings are the accurate ones.

Great night for ITV1 with Above Suspiscion increasing from yesterday, a series or at least another film is a dead cert now.

BBC One had a mixed night with Anne Frank faring well against Emmerdale and Eastender doing well but Traffic Cops did badly.

BBC Two had a good night with University Challenge and Masterchef but Three Men in More than One Boat was down on its first episode but still good ratings.

Channel 4 did well with CBB and Surviving Gazza while Five had a mixed night with the soaps on par with what they've been getting, Fifth Gear just missing the 1m and Warzone flopping though the film afterward did alright.

I wonder if the weather had a part to play in the high ratings as it's been freezing where I live.

We should all be praying for ITV dramas to do well, that means that they will lose the mentality that every slot must have a cheap reality show. Also I do believe that trying to appeal to certain demographics at the expense of everyone else is just rubbish. That is narrowcasting ITV's success has always been down to broadcasting. Making shows that appeal to everyone.

Indeed. The longest and most widespread spell of cold weather to grip the UK since 1996. Still some snowcover on the ground here in Northants leftover from Sunday night's flurries.

There does seem to have been a bit of an impact on the ratings, especially for the soaps. TV execs will be hoping that the winter continues in this vein.

Agreed. News at Ten was a bit of a worry initially, but it has since risen and is back up to a respectable level.

It's never going to beat the BBC bulletin I don't think, but ITV only have themselves to blame for that.

Above Suspicion should get a full series commission which is heartening. We need some new returning drama series to add to ITV's portfolio.

CBB very strong, which bodes well for the series average. Might well recover some of the audience shed by the last couple of series.

Emmerdale was the biggest surprise of the night though. It'll be very interesting to see whether it holds on to that audience when TOS returns.

Above Supsicion was so good last night I was gripped.

A great night for ITV1. When was the last time a 9pm drama got more than 7 million viewers on a weeknight? I'm sure we'll be seeing more of it. Perhaps a 6 part series (3 two part stories)?

Law and Order has been mentioned and I think that is the key drama commission for ITV this year. It's 13 episodes and much hyped and probably very expensive.

Great for CBB as well.

I can see L&O being successful and pull in high ratings for its first episode, I think ITV as well as NBC Universal are counting on the people who watch the franchise on Five, Hallmark, Sky1 etc to tune in as well as people who would watch crime drama on ITV.

I wonder if Five and CBS Paramount will look at how L&O does on ITV1 before commissioning a UK version of CSI? It's been in the planning for a number of years as a one-off episode for the regular Vegas series but it could potentially work as a series.

I think Law and Order could get the Monday 9pm slot because of the Bradley Walsh connection and that might help it.

I still think Bradley Walsh was a dire casting decision, but we'll see. I will certainly give it a go when it airs.
