Just a rumour, I think it came from Wikipedia. But if she can't cope with attractive, younger females sitting beside her, she might not last long on AGT if Cowell keeps adding 4th judges.

Strong performance for Unforgiven. But I think that before people get carried away with the "resurgence of ITV drama" they should recognise that BBC1 managed to kill off the ITV drama premieres a year ago with New Tricks repeats which were getting 5-6m. Repeats of Traffic Cops don't offer the same competition, and really, it would be pretty dire for ITV if they were not getting 7m+ for new drama against that sort of competition.

Hunter should offer a sterner test - but I wish the Beeb had put that out a week earlier to not give ITV a head start.

But will ITV1 actually bother to show all the episodes this time?

Sounds like ITV's Griff Rhys Jones on, er, whichever cities he went to series. Should do about the same sort of business too I should think - 3-4m?

Well I'm worried about Hunter I think it could get lost on Sunday with Wild At Heart and Dancing On Ice and Unforgiven has established itself on Monday, people will be intrigued to see how Unforgiven pans out. The thing is Unforgiven and Hunter both look good but it's great to have too much good television rather than too little.

You have to remember that it isn't a fact of people not seeing Hunter as Dancing On Ice is on. They are looking for alternative entertainment, and BBC1 is providing it with Lark Rise and Hunter.

I'm guessing that Hunter will be left on a cliff hanger to get people roped in for the Monday night episode. Did Unforgiven finish on a cliffhanger or could people just assume it was a one off.

NCIS does well on Ten even in repeats, it's amazing how successful this show does considering it's not a new show. I bet that if the proposed spin-off goes ahead, I would bet Five will try and nab exclusive rights.

I think the Extreme programme orginated from Living as the title seems familar.

Something positive about the BBC and ITV.

BBC deal could secure ITV local news until 2016

Quote:
“BBC deal could secure ITV local news until 2016Comments (24) Mark Sweney guardian.co.uk, Tuesday 13 January 2009 15.35 GMT Article historyITV executives believe a deal to share resources with the BBC would guarantee the commercial broadcaster's regional news services until at least 2016.

The proposed deal would see ITV and BBC regional news services produce separate programmes but share buildings and even news footage.”

Select the channel(s) and week on the left side panel and click "view figures". Only the top 10 for the week is shown but it should give you an idea of the rating...

1st Week of January not there yet but boxing day should be covered.

3.8 million for the new CSI only losing out to BBC One's New Tricks in the ratings but seeing off the combined might of C4, ITV and BBC2

Now that is very impressive for Five. Wasn't that the episode where they search for Warwick's killer? It got rave reviews in the US.

Happily ignoring the Guardian and the Telegraph like most of the general population...I thought it was ok, to be honest but not completely fantastic, anywya my views are airmed more in the CSI thread but regardless of the views the ratings won't lie

As for the Wire it has its atrocious moments too but its a completely different show so I don't know why the reviewer made that remark. Its like comparing ER to Holby City

Well the media in general love The Wire and want to make every single television viewer love The Wire....but they don't. As good as The Wire might be it is a bit of a clique in the media that enjoy it just like 30 Rock.

Superb rating for CSI. Is that higher than last year's launch? BBC One had a good night, with all their shows winning the slots. Apart from Emmerdale, ITV rated poor as expected. Celebrity Big Brother gets back up past the 3m mark, but it's still not brilliant.

Got the rating for R&J - 28,000/0.16% Peaked at 31,000/0.19% and pulled in a extra 9,000 on the timeshift channel - It improved the slot average of 10,000/0.06%

Well, I guess that's kinda OK since hardly no one knew the show was on at 6pm - What are "Watch" playing at - Who doesn't promote a show when it's changing time? Am sure and I pray it picks up after a few months - And the new set is lovely by the way

Media Guardian have updated but they said Emmerdale won the 7-8pm hour. But I thought EastEnders beat it?

Probably just typical lazy Guardian journalism - presumably if you average across the full hour ITV would have been in front.

I guess they're working off averages for the whole hour. It just means Emmerdale beat TOS between 7-7.30, by more than EastEnders beat Emmerdale between 7.30-8. Which isn't surprising.

Good night for Five. They really prospered from the lack of decent programming on BBC One and ITV1. C4 and BBC Two both put in decent performances at 9pm too. Holby City looked like it benefitted with a really strong performance at 8pm against Trinny and Susannah. Just how much longer does their contract with ITV last?

I like The Wire but I find the media love for it a bit tiring at times, CSI may not be perfect but it is well written and well acted. Shows like 30 Rock, Mad Men may be critical darlings and award winners but they're not exactly ratings hit which is why Awards Ceremony like The Golden Globe or The Emmys don't attract high audiences.

Back to ratings, CSI did fantastic second only to BBC One, with poorer competition next week aside from Channel 4, it stands a good chance of coming first next week. BBC One did very well with EE, Holby and New Tricks winning their slots, ITV1 did poorly with Extreme Slimmers and T&S, Channel 4 did well with CBB back to 3m and CHR and Derren Brown breaking 2m and BBC Two did well with Oz and James doing well as did Masterchef.

The fact that a repeat of CSI did 1.9m at 10pm makes me wonder how well a new show would after CSI.

Five was very cany to show a teaser of Minder throughout CSI as it's exposes it to a potentially big audience. Personally, I think it will really well and most likely outrate CSI as most watched show on Five this year and hopefully will lead to more homegrown drama on the channel.

Very good rating for TOS. Dunno how last night did, but might have been even higher because it led into EE.”

Thanks for that rzt. Where did you find it? Do you notice though how The One Show more often than not goes down in the official ratings?

Talking of official ratings BARB has updated with ratings for the week ending January 4th.

I can't say where I got it from, I'm afraid.

Yep, I've noticed that The One Show often goes down in the officials. It particularly goes down on Tuesdays when EE follows it. But still, it pulls in a reliable 4.5-5.5m which is very good. The BBC really used to have problems in the 7pm slot, but TOS has sorted it out now.

Looking at those latest BARB officials, fantastic for Jonathan Creek. Could possibly get into the Top 10 by the end of the year. Top 20 is a definite I reckon.
