Life of Riley didn't go down nearly enough, there must be a significant audience for very mediocre safe, unfunny comedy.

Still, I don't think it's helping the audience for Green Green Grass.

I actually think that they should swap The Green Green Grass and Life Of Riley around.

I agree with you. Boycie and Marlene are characters that people are fond of and familiar with, If it was on at 8:00 straight after EE I could see it getting between 5m-6m. Problem is, fewer people are staying with BBC1 after 8:00 to watch LOR, so they turn to BBC2,ITV1,C4 or C5 who mostly show hour full shows between 8&9, so noone turns back to BBC1 at 8:30 for Green Green Grass.

Exactly Boycie and Marlene have name recognition with the audience and I can see them holding onto more of the EastEnders lead in.

Quite a poor night for ITV1 really with their heavily promoted Emmerdale episode the lowest of the week, and the other 3 shows that followed all considerably down on last week. Not good really for Krypton Factor or Total Emergency and The Bill should be getting more than 4.7m really.

Great night for BBC2 increasing on last week with Victorian Farm, and a solid performance from Hustle. I think Robbie or someone mentioned that last nights episode of LoR was supposed to be the premiere so they swapped the two round for some reason, also apparently LoR wasn't originally supposed to air in that slot, something else should have aired there, but schedules were changed at last minute. Also it's even stranger a new comedy is risked as the lead in to an established comedy like GGG.

Emmerdale wasn't that heavily promoted beyond a couple of quick trailers. 7 million is solid and not a cause for concern considering how well it has been doing in recent weeks. Ditto for The Bill. The BBC comedies are dropping so The Bill may gain more ground in the next couple of weeks.

Total Emergency and The Krypton Factor clearly aren't working though.

Not a cause for concern by far, but I didn't say that. I was just stating I expected a little more considering the ITV trailers & many magazine articles.

Emmerdale got quite a few good weekend advert spots. Everytime I watched ITV this week, I spotted an advert for it at least once. I would say yesterday's episode was fairly well promoted.

Considering The Bill is very well established, the comedies on BBC1 are still doing very well. Life of Riley involved slightly in quality from last week. Green Grass is quite established now, I don't see it losing too much of it's audience now. The people watching are most likely fans who watched previous series. The Bill should technically be well ahead.

ITV were stupid putting The Krypton Factor in that slot against EastEnders. It was never going to succeed but I don't think they care to be honest. It's shameful ITV at 9pm is doing the same as 7:30pm. In that 90 minute gap, there's far more viewers watching TV.

Celebrity Big Brother should have beaten Total Emergency last night. It would have done so with relative ease a few years ago. The question must be asked therefore, why didn't it?

Make no mistake, 2.4m is very poor for Big Brother, especially the Celebrity version. And it's not even that good for Channel 4 as a whole.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Deal or No Deal had more viewers yesterday. Anyone have the DOND figure to prove me right/wrong?

CBB was awful last night I nearly fell asleep. So I'm not surprised it got such bad ratings last night.

Decent night for BBC One with the comedies faring pretty well and Hustle winning its slot, BBC Two is doing very well with Masterchef and its surprise hit Victorian Farm, ITV1 had a poorish night with Total Emergency and CBB is doing pretty poorly for Channel 4 considering it had fairly weak competiton and Cowboy Builders is doing decent for Five though the film failed to hit 1m but the films are moving back an hour in favour of a new docusoap called Soho Blues which could do either way.

Five are dropping Warzone which is unsuprising given its been doing poorly but considering Five have stuck with underperforming shows, I guess the people in charge are taking 1m in peaktime rule very seriously.

Its been a very hit and miss series. Most have been consistent with what goes on (ie its either really boring or really good) but this one fluctuates and apart from the odd show, the ratings so far this series have reflected whether its been a good show or not which is understandable.

The real test for this series will be tonight, Monday and Wednesday (evictions) and next Friday's final. I think about the 3.5 mark for tonight and Wednesday, and about 3m for Monday.

I can see changes coming our way for BB10 but I can see this being the final ever celebrity series and there will be a new variation next January ...

Next week has some very poor CBB scheduling imo moving all around the schedule & up against the soaps just to accomodate the food season which imo could have waited a week.

It is interesting on how the ratings reflect the quality of the show though and how when something interesting happens, ratings suddenly go up in the space of 24 hours.

This series of CBB have been underperforming ratings wise being beaten not only by BBC One and ITV1 but only BBC Two and Five, I can't remember when it last won its timeslot.

Emmerdale was quite heavily advertised actually... It was advertised twice during Dancing on Ice, Coronation Street it was also advertised.... Plus during other shows..
