Going on the fact it will be a success that will mean soon FIVE will be airing strong rating drama on 5 9pm slots of the week, presuming House will return on Thursdays. This is great for FIVE and I hope even if Minder isn't very good that it gets good ratings, because it will encourage FIVE to produce more homegrown drama.”
I think it pull in a large audience for its first episode at least with 4-5m being my estimate though it could do higher as the competition is fairly weak with BBC One airing a WDYTYA repeat, ITV1 are airing Foyle's War repeat and Channel 4 are showing Grand Designs which will do well anyway.
I imagine Minder is the first of many homegrown dramas that will air on the channel. The new controller of Five commioned Hogfather and The Colour of Magic at Sky1 with more on the way in 2009/10.
Minder runs until March which is when House usually returns though I wonder if Five would risk moving House and the US import that follows its at 10pm to Wednesdays as it would benefit from a strong 8pm show like IRT and it would more than capable in drawing a decent audience against The Apprentice.
