As I said above I think that may be the biggest thing against it. They may be happy with a moderate hit that gets okay ratings on the basis that they hardly have much to replace it with, BUT it does depend on cost.

They do tend to use a lot of prosthetics rather than CGI though which may have kept the costs down some. Wonder if they could tell cut back further - finding some better writers would be a good start! Probably more talented young writers out there who'd work for cheap to get a chance on a series such as this!

By the looks of it, Whitechapel is to be the next Monday Night Thriller on ITV1, as they've just advertised it under the tag.

We have to start a campaign to force Channel 4 to officially adopt this as the new programme title. LOL

Yeah, I thought something like Saturday Kitchen, BBC Sport or Ice Age might have done a bit higher.

I've been looking forward to Whitechapel for ages now and i'm glad i've seen adverts for it as it means it will start after Unforgiven.

I think it will do well in the ratings like most of ITVs crime dramas do as that is what ITV generally do best.

Those BB ratings are dire beyond belief. 2.1m for the interview is rubbish..!

I think C4 have really messed up with the scheduling for next week. Its all over the place.

I think if it's finding 4.2m after three not particularly good episodes, then it's probably found its level. I doubt it will go much lower now.

Very pleased to see TW bounce back a bit in its very early slot. That said, I'm a bit bored of it now, it is a bit samey every week. But if it can hold 5m, then it will obviously be coming back.

The Eurosong thing has flopped and failed to capture the imagination of the public (though still a bigger draw than Demons), and I can't see that one being repeated again. Back to the usual one off Song for Europe format next year methinks. Assuming we're still bothering with the Eurovision anyway that is...”

Your Country Need You has hardly 'flopped'. It's audience share has been steady at around 21% each week and of course will peak in a couple of weeks time. And the BBC ditch Eurovision? Drop a show that brings them 8 million viewers and a 55% share? Lucky you're not a scheduler.

Ouch for CBB! It just shows how boring this series is and how it just isn't capturing the publics imagination-ratings just seemed to have totally dropped off this week and it's not looking good for the final.

I expected that drop off for T&R because viewers have to wait a week for the second part. Hopefully it'll settle around the 5m mark like WITB. FIVE seemed to benefit from T&R dropping with NCIS up, and Numb3rs remaining fairly steady for them.

-----

Casualty's peak now seems to be 7m lower than last year, but still a great figure for BBC1 and In It To Win It continues to perform excellently. ITV will be glad they have Harry Hill to save their schedule and ITV made a good move comissioning him for half the year first of all giving a nice lead in to X Factor and then to boost the Jan-Mar schedule.

The problem with Family Fortunes and ITV's schedule in general is Demons! Many people have said it's not a family show and why it's flopping, but all the programmes around it ARE family shows, therefore why Family Fortunes is flopping because it starts in the middle of Casualty. There can't really be any other explanation, considering last year it was pulling in 5m after the X Factor and the Christmas episodes last year managed over 5m...before Demons started!

CH4 actually had a good saturday night even though BB was below par, because the 10pm film performed great and the Dads Army doc performed decently. A bit disappointing for CSI:NY and hopefully it'll pick up next week.

What was on yesterday which wasn't on last Sunday which made BBC One lose 0.9% all day shares; and made ITV1 gain 1.1% all day share?

Oh, and in another news, I'm sure no one is surprised that this has happened.

Great for DOI but the second show is a little too low
Also a good night for Demons, the ITV2 repeat ratings could be the difference between its axe and recommission

Anyone know what the Krpton Factor repeat got on ITV1 at 4.50pm last night? It might well have got as much as the Thursday night first screening.

Very good night for ITV and nice to see Lark Rise above 6 million.

Decent figures for Hunter but it really isn't very good.

I would have thought Demons could re-run quite well on ITV4 also. It seems to be a show that will not break any records on its first screening, but can get decent figures in aggregate when repeated on the digital channels.

Very strong main show for Dancing On Ice as expected, but I wonder why people are failing to return for the results at 9.30? I know the competition won't heat up immediately, and the single-gender start won't have helped - but its a strange sight to see it lose viewers from Wild at Heart preceeding it.

Average ratings for Hunter, though its not been as well acclaimed as the drama it spun off from. I guess we'll see a fall for it tonight and a comfortable victory for Unforgiven - though both might significantly dent eachother. Lark Rise to Candleford seems to be performing very well and the BBC have a solid-if-unspectacular line-up that they'll be pleased to see is doing very healthily despite the opposition.

Demons is almost a good show, as dull as I think it is at the moment, I think it would be much better in a second series. So far viewers are falling each week.

Good night for ITV1 but I thought the results for Dancing On Ice would rate higher.

Your rather pretty (and colourful table ) doesn't include the Wednesday 8pm ITV2 repeat (or the +1 screening linked to that)

Maybe the difference was the post Eastenders slot ? Last week BBC One showed the Horse Whisper film, yesterday it was back to daytime filler.

Whereas Ice Age 2 really did the business for ITV in a late afternoon / early evening slot yesterday ?

Big day for Australian TV with the soaps returning and the tennis starting. I shall post a roundup of the ratings here as soon as I obtain the figures.

New castless H&A titles have appeared online. I must admit, I am not keen. See here:

DOI is starting to hit as expected but BBC will be very satisfied that AR and Larkrise are holding up and producing figures which would be winning many other slots. In the past BBC1 might have been whitewashed but hours 7-10 are very respectable.

Im not so sure Wild at Heart would be doing the business it is without DOI giving it a leg up.
