I agree, Seven are using The Australian Open as a springboard to promote their new and current shows although with the success they're having, they probably don't need it.

Looking at the new shows on the various channels, they're are a lot of shows based on international formats such as Masterchef, Total Wipeout, The Farmer Wants a Wife and even Ladette to Lady!

Yes, it's unbelievable how much ITV mess up ITV3.

Today I saw 'Daily Cooks Challenge' on ITV3, to which I was astonished. What are they doing? This is a cookery programme aimed at women. Repeats should air on ITV2!

Also, you're right, Flashpoint as well as Life and Num3ers and other US drama need solid slots on ITV4, whilst ITV3 needs to intake more archive.

Monarch of the Glen is doing very well for them, and it shows that these shows can get you around 300K in an 8pm slot. I'd say repeat it on STV at least on a Sunday daytime, as its one of Scotland's most remembered shows.

ITV3 should be the home of 'Classic Coronation St', 'Emmerdale Farm', 'Take the High Road', 'Crossroads Motel', as well as regular nightly repeats of Emmerdale & Corrie.

All my Mum watches is ITV3, she was watching Daily Cooks Challenge yesterday.

I do agree they need to put old episodes of soaps on though, all those episodes just gathering dust in the archive

To quite a large extent ITV2 is ITV's version of E4 so I can completely see why Daily Cooks is on ITV3. They don't air a lot of shows aimed at people outside of the 16-34 age group.

Interestingly there was quite a turnaround in the BB eviction last night. The first one got 2.5m viewers, the second got 3.4m. Normally it should be 3.4m then 2.5m. Big Chef Takes on Little Chef was Channel 4's best rated show last night with 3.5m.

Looks like Hunter and Unforgiven appealed to a similar audience which was why they were both down for their second episodes.

I think BBC1 should have shown Hunter a week earlier, but I can see them turning it into a series.

Better than I expected for the first CBB show but still poor
I expected more for the start of the food season on C4

I was shocked at how well it did to be honest. That Heston whats-his-face is just annoying more than anything. Must admit I only caught the tail end of the programme but that was enough!

A night of two halves for Big Brother. First rating dire, picked up for the second though. Why are they so scared to put it in the 10pm slot consistently? It would provide a decent alternative to the news and I believe the viewers would respond with time. But it's all about consistency; the constant shuffling about at the moment is even alienating the diehards.

Anyway, back to more important ratings matters, nice victory for ITV1 last night in the battle of the Monday night dramas. Personally I was expecting Hunter to hold up a bit better than that. ITV1 is becoming a force to be reckoned with in the Monday 9pm slot now. Fair play to them, they have marketed it well.

Last summer 9pm tended to be a better slot for them, but if weather experts are to be believed then we are actually in for some kind of summer this year so they would have to be mad not to put the show at 10pm from Monday-Thursday, then 9pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The last series to have a full 10pm slot was BB6. The ratings started to drop when it was being shifted about the listings, and when it found a permanent home at 9pm in 2007.

Agree about ITV- it looks like they are FINALLY getting things right.

According to digital spy unforgiven fell from 7.2m last week to 5.5m this week

Its a shame it fell, but it was going against Hunter this week, and wasn't Big Chef takes on Little Chef on at the same time? That also did well, so i can see why it fell, but it is such a good show, i bet some people recorded it like my mum did, watched Hunter and watched Unforgiven later to miss the adverts.

The times slots were more confusing for viewers in 2006, one night is was at 10 and the next at 9.

Decent ratings for Channel 4 with BCTOLC pulling in 3m+ CBB did poorly against the soaps but improved at 10pm, Hunter and Unforgiven were both dented but still a decent result for both of them. I can see Whitechapel doing quite well and has the potential to become a series.
Five had a poor night with none of their shows hitting 1m, they need to make some changes to Mondays and have shows that can achieve over 1m in the 8pm and 9pm slots.

Unforgiven fell quite dramatically which is a bit dissapointing as the second episode was better than the first in my opinion. It was most likely dented by the strong 9pm offerings though.

As predicted, CBB did poorly at 8pm but I thought it did pretty well at 10pm.

No surprise Unforgiven fell tbh after the drop in viewers last week and it going up against a drama with similar audience, though 5.5m is a very decent rating for ITV1 today! Also it did win its slot which ITV will be pleased with.

Good night for BBC1 and CH4-as expected for the first BB show up against the soaps (which it seemed to dent slightly). The food season made an excellent start and the second BB show is quite a bit higher than expected and it bodes well for the 10pm shows this week.

Poor night for BBC2, bar the 8pm slot and FIVE will be glad War Zone has been moved from the schedule-however Fifth Gear is only 0.1m up on that.

I think Warzone been dropped rather than moved as it isn't on the schedule for the next few weeks. Considering Dawn Airey has already axed Trisha due to cost reasons, I wouldn't be surprised if FG is next for the chop.

Looking at tonight, Channel 4 and Five are going to have a great night with poor competition from BBC One, ITV1 and BBC Two. I have a feeling that Big Chef could win the timeslot though it has stiff competition from CSI.

Yes there are a couple of other factual programmes which we have never seen the last couple of episodes of, so I geuss you're right in War Zone being dropped. However couldn't it just be moved to Thursdays at 11pm where the repeat airs now to please the 1m ish fans it has?

Tonight should easily see FIVE and CH4 take the top 2 spots I would guess which would be something that very rarely happens, but the material on BBC and ITV just isn't high rating stuff.

I think it will happen again when Minder debuts in two weeks as the competition is poor for that day too although ITV could have a FA Cup replay which could dent the ratings.

I imagine that Five have high hopes for it as they've given it a major promotional push with billboards, transport ads and beer mats.

What rating do you think it will get? I'm thinking 4-5m at best though 6m+ is likely.

I'm really surprised that you think it will be such a bit hit Jonwo. Personally I can see it getting around 3m, though with these ratings you can never tell

I think it will do well at least for the first episode with people watching out of curiosity especially fans of the original, Bionic Woman got over 2m on ITV2 last year so it is possible for it to get high ratings.

To clarify the Emmerdale rating (which has been reported differently in several places), the DS report has overstated the Emmerdale rating, it got 7.56m (34.8%), not 7.91m...

Why are there discrepancies in the ratings as reported from the various sites? Don't they get the information from the same source?
