There are no XF/SCD clashes next week either. X Factor shows start just as the SCD show finishes.

Nor do I. BGT had 11.9m for its Friday semi final but only 11.0m for its finale performance show on the Saturday so ratings don't have to increase for the finale although I think XF may push over 12m.
The problem for the results show is that to be getting 13m/14m, it's going to need an extraordinary share.
I'm hopeful that it can beat BGT, though.

The BGT Final Show 1 isn't really a good comparison because it was up against Doctor Who, which knocked its figures down by about 1-2m.
The X Factor is up against Merlin and Casualty- same as usual. It will get at least 13m, I'm most certain. If it doesn't, I'm going to be losing a lot of money

It'll need about a 56% share. It's high, but I can see it getting that. The BGT Final got 55% share, so who knows?!

Probably so when it ends up getting 'just' 13m it gets translated into a bad result - "ITV won't be happy with that" etc, that's how things seems to work round here

The X Factor still continues to beat SCD but I'm sure the results show tonight will top 9.7m
I'm loving both SCD and The X Factor this year.
Last year The X Factor was nat half as good as this years.
Thanks God Diana Vickers is out though now Alexandra has to win.
Good ratings for Outnumbered and Merlin still does really well despite down two hundred thousand viewers than last week.

Anyway, looks like the incredible hype about the freakshow that is Britney Spears turning up to mime a song propelled TXF to new heights last week but couldn't sustain that new interest this week. The 15m for the final that some are expecting seems a bit hopeful, perhaps - particularly with a double SCD next week to shake up the schedules a little and cause people to get busy with their remotes.
Yes, I was a little. I thought it would clear the 4m mark easily with all the Ross/Brand interest, and millions of Daily Mail readers tuning in to be offended-at.
But I knew BBC1 would beat it, it always does, and it's fantastic to see Outnumbered pile on new viewers. It's a shame the Beeb couldn't hold it back until TXF was off our screens - it would have done great business filling some of the gaps in BBC1's schedule this Christmas that are being filled with HIGNFY repeats and Question of Sport compilations. And although it may take a knock next week with 12-13m watching the TXF finally reach its climax, it has done well enough.
As for Harry Hill, the fact that XF viewers couldn't be bothered to switch channels for 30 mins, and that XF was soundly beaten when up against SCD, does rather give
credence to my suspicions that it's moving wallpaper for many people (not all, granted) stuck in the house on a Saturday evening with nothing better to watch, or who just have it on in the background whilst doing other things.
Would I be right in thinking that XF ran up till or slightly after 8.15? I see from my PVR that Burp didn't start until 8.18pm. Could possibly trim a bit off Harry's figures when the proper ratings come out?”

Did the X Factor not beat Strictly overall? 9.72m to 9.11m, still quite a big difference of around 600k. I quite like both shows but I have to agree with George S that your logice is quite strange. Also, if people could not be bothered to turn over, how come other shows in this slot have not always done as well as this (not saying they have done bad, jus not as good).
The British Comedy Awards did look rubbish so I can't say I'm suprised by that. Channel 4 really needs to do something. Its not just on a saturday now, apart from desperate housewives its hard to think of any other decent show they have (brothers and sisters is but god knows why that failed). Even when ER returns, if it goes on the saturday it will do just as badly as it did last year even if it is its last series. They need another reality show that has live elements (not like the Steve Jones thing they have had on recently)
But as George S says the viewer of SCD are pensioners so it doesn't matter if the result leaks on to the internet.

The Comedy Awards should have done better, but as I said on another forum, that could be due to there being no really big comedies. Most of the shows nominated are critically acclaimed but hardly watched. Joe Public aren't going to watch a show full of people and shows they haven't heard of. That's my theory anyway.

I'm not surprised. Who on earth thought that moron was worthy of an award? I'm sorry, but do people have very short memories or something? Has everyone forgotten his woeful performance at the Diana concert? And what about his cringeworthy interview with Garry Shandling?
Sorry, but I'm just sick of Gervais being hailed as some sort of comedy god. It's gone on for too long now. The Office was the only funny thing he's ever done and that was yonks ago now. Overrated doesn't cut it, same with those cretins Lucas and Walliams. It irks me that true excellence like Peep Show gets overshadowed every time by the mainstream muck that Gervais & co churn out so regularly.

I'm guessing he's getting confused with the first half-hour of TXF performances.
A fair point I suppose, but if Harry had been on 7-7.30 and TXF 7.30-9.15 (one big show) Harry would have got a lot less than what TXF got against Strictly. That said, TXF would have benefitted overall I think.
Still, ITV knows best.

The Sunday films have been doing vey well for Five but I reckon Home Alone could beat Matilda tonight though The Pink Panther will do okay but it is up against Miracle on 34th Street which always does well.

I don't mind Gervais but he just plays himself all the time and it's not like he is one of the all time great TV comic actors like the late, great Ronnie Barker. I think he deserved awards for The Office but not for Extras because he wasn't the best thing in it. Stephen Merchant was much funnier and should have won.

I would predict around the 2.6m mark for Home Alone, something close to 2.4m for Miracle on 34th Street and in the region of 2.1m for Pink Panther. But with Elf's premiere achieving over 5m last year in a similar slot I could well be underestimating the pulling power of a good family movie on C4. That was a premiere though, and the same can hardly be said for Miracle on 34th Street even though DigiGuide has marked it as such. I guess they mean that old chestnut, "network premiere."

I think the family films pulling in high ratings are due to lack of competition and putting two Christmas films against each other will dent both of them.The Parent Trap did 2m last week so I expect Miracle will get 2m or higher.
I'm surprised Five put Muppet Christmas Carol on a Saturday rather than a Sunday as it would of have done better business, not to mention the fact it's one of the better Christmas films.

Oh I do like Stephen Merchant. By far the funnier of the two. Hope we see more of him on projects not involving Gervais.
