8pm last night...

BBC1 - 9.7m
BBC2 - 7m
ITV1 - 2.7m

I dont think I've ever seen anything like that on a Sunday night on ITV1.

And there really is no excuse given the number of episode of The Royal that are sitting there gathering dust - they have nearly 2 series now.

Typo from Broadcast. Wallander got a 24% share.

Strong night for BBC1 yesterday. ITV's Sunday night offering is really poor at the moment. Only IAC could prevent complete embarrasment for them. Good night for BBC2 yesterday, with Top Gear pulling in a big audience as normal and Louis Theroux comfortably above the slot average.

Ouch for ITV last night! After 6 consecutive days of excellent ratings it is Sunday that lets them down again! Though they only have themselves to blame for BH's poor ratings with the poor slot. Interestingly though there 16-34's share yesterday was over double what they were getting when they had big hitters like Midsomer & Heartbeat airing in primetime a couple of months ago, which is probably more important to ITV than the all hours. Also ITV2 logges a 3.2% share with a 5% 16-34 share on the positive side.

Much better start for Wallander than I expected, but as Survivors it lost 1 million viewers over its run. Two more strong performances from SCD and AR.

Thats probably more to do with I'm a Celebrity and to a lesser extent Here Come the Boys.

Britannia High is getting less 16-34s than The Antiques Roadshow.

Down to SCD viewers being slow to turn over/off I believe.

Dreadful for ITV between 7-9pm, and the FA Cup didn't do particularly well with just a 16% share (albeit a poor game).

Shocking ratings for ITV1 between 7 and 9pm last night. A rare strong night for BBC One during the I'm a Celeb onslaught. I would say the TV weeks 6-12 and 13-19 Dec are going to be tough for ITV: possibly two of their worst weeks this year, but the final two rounds of X Factor should stop those two weeks being ITV's two absolute worst weeks of the year.

Wallander did well and if it retains most of that viewers then I think it could become a future franchise for BBC One though with Branagh directing Thor in 2009, there won't be new episodes till 2010.

BBC Two did well with Top Gear and Louis Theroux which was on par with what his films usually get. Channel 4 had a better Sunday with The Parent Trap though Five wasn't too far behind with Spider-Man. The family films seem to be pulling in decent audiences for both channels at the moment.

The share for SWAT from Broadcast seems wrong, another typo perhaps?

It beat BBC1 & 2 combined in the slot.

2m 19% between 12.15pm and 2.15pm.

The draw for the third round 2.3m 19% share in the quarter hour from 2.15pm.

Full coverage of the football between 11am and 2.45pm gained an average of 1.6 million and a 16% share on ITV1.

That confirms my doubts about Media Guardian's claims Countryfile averages 2.5m viewers. I'm sure I've seen figures of only around 1m for Countryfile.

GeorgeS, where's your info coming from??
Media Guardian & the broadcast forum thread where ariusuk posts. Sky Sports would have got a big share yesterday afternoon as well with the Manchester derby game

Of course it will & Take That are popular. Last years Audience With Take That did good numbers, allbeit in a post X Factor slot.

BH will go down further, but Corrie should boost the schedule ,though with BBC1 running a strong schedule I can see Corrie getting 7m maximum. Corrie should boost Take That slightly and Coming Out should pull in a solid 5/6m I think.

ITV2

4.50pm The X Factor 834,000 4.6%
6.30pm The X Factor Results 1.2m 6.1%
Wow! So despite pulling in nearly 12m on Saturday it can still pull off another 0.8m on a digital channel at 5pm in the afternoon!

That's horrific albeit unsurprising for ITV last night between 7pm and 9pm. I suppose the much hyped BH stands out, but Here Comes The Boys had 1% more than it which is still atrocious. It looks more and more like ITV should have tried to find a way to get XF results on Sundays if they wanted to pursue entertainment on Sundays. At least they have scheduled Girls Aloud Party on Saturday nights where it could do 5-6m, IMO, with the Cheryl connection.

Meanwhile, the man who commissioned Britannia High left ITV a few months ago and they have just replaced him. Elaine Bedell joins as Director of Entertainment and Comedy. She is currently BBC Controller of Entertainment.

While at the BBC, Bedell was responsible for commissioning shows including Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Strictly Come Dancing, Have I Got News For You? and Top Gear.

Previously, she was the BBC's commissioning editor for features and factual entertainment, a role in which she oversaw The One Show.

It's one of the few occasions that I would say someone moving from BBC to ITV is actually going into an easier job.

I notice ITV Press Centre now has "Dancing on Ice at Christmas" going out on Christmas Day 9pm - 10.30pm.

All Star Mr & Mrs at 8pm on Christmas Eve followed by Midsomer Murders : Days of Misrule at 9pm.

Thats an odd decision.

I was pretty sure they would stick a Midsomer Murders on there.

Will be very interested to see how that does if they stick with that slot, against The Royle Family.

Sounds very good to me and DOI actually has a chance of performing well on Xmas Day with an alternative to The Royle Family, but will it be live?

I actually prefer M&M and Midsomer on Xmas Eve as many people will snuggle up to Midsomer before Christmas morning.

If ITV keep the schedule like that then imo I think that's good scheduling from ITV, something which they've been struggling with this year!

I doubt it will be live. Wouldn't be surprised if they recorded it during this year's series!

Unlikely.

It could do well I s'pose it all depends on how much of a draw Corrie proves to be.

Putting Dancing On Ice on Christmas Day may well prove a good move, as according to the Christmas TV thread, Strictly isn't airing on Christmas Day.

Mr and Mrs and Midsomer should do good business on Christmas Eve, too.

Also, according to the ITV Press Centre, For One Night Only is airing at 7.30pm on Saturday 20th, and Who Dares Sings is on Saturday 27th at 6.45pm.

This could change though, as the schedules won't be confirmed for a couple of days.

I think DOI will do okay against The Royle Family which I imagine will get 8-9m on Christmas Day. Midsomer will do well though it does depend what BBC One puts on on Christmas Eve which I think could be Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest.

ITV are put a bit more effort into Christmas than previous years with Christmas specials of their entertainment shows and dramas plus the Stanley Baxter one-off. Channel 4 also has more Christmas specials of their hit shows too. No doubt some MP(s) will be complaining about the number of repeats at Christmas
