I wonder how TXF would do if it had a similar show?

Interesting thought. They have The Xtra Factor, but that's on ITV2 of course, and is only 1 day per week.

If they did do a daily Xtra Factor when would they put it on ITV1- maybe 5.30pm possibly? I think it would rate lower than the BBC's It Takes Two, but would bring in a solid 2m. But I think a daily Xtra Factor would be too much, personally.

I tend to agree. The "young" generation tend to watch The X Factor, while the "older" generation watch SCD, and thus have more time to watch, but the "younger" don't really watch the sister shows, they just watch the main attraction.

I think News At Ten does well when a more compatible programme precedes it. It does much better following dramas or big reality shows rather than sport. Having said that it, as usual, cannot hold onto its huge lead in and is overtaken by the BBC News which increased on its lead in.

I agree it would be 'too much'. I think it works fine as a companion show on a Saturday night, although I would welcome the return of the Friday night ITV2 show as well.

Strictly Come Dancing averaged 8.75m (33.6%) for the time it was actually on (8.55-9.30). The Girls Aloud Party saw a huge boost of 3-4m for its final 10 mins due to Strictly finishing early.

The X Factor actually started at 9.45pm and finished at 10.50pm, and this period averaged 13.54m (55.0%). DS's reported overnights of 13.46m for 9.40-8.50pm were close. Looks like there will be a big timeshift for The X Factor because there were clear drops for the adverts.

More ratings:
21.40- Outnumbered: 3.47m (13.6%)
22.10- BBC News: 3.12m (12.6%)

Very interesting 5 min breakdown.

-Casualty boosted heavily from viewers switching after the XF waiting for SCD Results.
-Outnumbered holding up very well against the top rated show of the year.
-Girls Aloud party boosted heavily by the sandwich.
-Hole In The Wall being heavily boosted by SCD and without it would be at least 2 million less I think.

Five are doing alright with only DAFB doing badlys but they need to find a show or talent to get people to watch the channel on a regular basis and bring in big numbers rather than dip in and out. BBC One has SCD, Doctor Who and various dramas ITV has X Factor, BGT and Channel 4 has Big Brother and aside from the CSI Franchise and perhaps The Gadget Show Five lacks that brand defining show.

It will be interesting how Minder does for them, I'm thinking 4-5m for the first episode at least if promoted correctly and given a decent lead in.

Conversely, SCD had a Saturday night post results show ITT in S1. I have no idea how it rated but I'm guessing not brilliantly as there hasent been one since.

Theres an hour special ITT penned for Saturday at 4, I think this will be its peak.

Some shameless plugging :

On the Ratings Predictions Game, the highly anticipated Christmas Week schedule has gone up to predict: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...908028&page=52 . Post #1262.

All the big Christmas shows are on the schedule. So have a go predicting for fun if you want to, even if you've never played before. Thanks .

Looking by the first few sets of predictions to come, there's already a huge difference in opinion about how certain shows will rate. Doctor Who's predictions range from: 8.9m-11.5m. And Wallace and Gromit (20.30) is ranging between 7.1m-13m ! It's difficult to predict because ITV are actually trying this year.

Strong set of ratings for Monday night.

Taggart pulled in very strong figures now its away from Spooks - and News at Ten capitalised on the extra lead in well. Its ironic, but it looks like NAT is better off without Trevor. I think he was seen by many as a little past his prime.

EastEnders did extremely well last night. You don't often see it pulling 40% shares, so that'll be seen as a really good sign that their annual festive boost has arrived. Looks like EastEnders might have the better of Corrie from now until January.

And its always nice to see BBC Two getting some healthy figures and shares.

Probably even higher than that, because it started late, a minute or two before 9pm.

Looking at the first week of January on DigiGuide and it seems that the Thursday 8pm slot which Waterloo Road occupied is now a new comedy block with Life of Riley and Green Green Grass. This is ideal as the comedies will be able better against The Bill rather than be annilhated by Corrie plus the added benefit of a EE lead in.

That'll do well for them.

Also, I notice that The Bill is not airing at 9pm at all, so it must be a typo on the ITV Press Centre. Taggart is airing on the Wednesday, with Total Emergency on the Thursday.

Also, Saturday 3 January goes like this:

BBC1
6.10pm Total Wipeout
7.10pm Your Country Needs You
8.10pm National Lottery: In It To Win It
9.00pm Casualty
9.50pm BBC News
10.10pm FILM: What Women Want

ITV1
4.45pm The FA Cup
7.20pm Demons
8.20pm All Star Family Fortunes
9.05pm Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Celebrity
10.05pm ITV News
10.20pm FA Cup Highlights

With Harry Hill airing on the Sunday at 7.30pm.

As for the soaps, I wouldn't expect a change until the Summer.

Also, Unforgiven and Trinny and Susannah begin the following week, so I'd imagine that Unforgiven will take Monday, with T&S on Tuesday.

One of the travel shows will probably air on the Sunday after DOI.

I noticed that too.

According to Digi, that week's editions of Last of the Summer Wine, DIY SOS and Not Going Out are repeats of the previous episodes, but I'm not convinced they all are. Can't see why they'd repeat the previous repeat of Not Going Out. If you see what I mean.

Vicar of Dibley's back too!

Looks like QI is taking over from HIGNFY on Fridays as well which I think will do slightly better business than what it did on BBC Two though we'll still when the ratings for the Christmas Special are released next week. I can't believe they've stuck a VoD repeat after it rather than Not Going Out or a new sitcom as it smacks of lazy scheduling.

I can see it doing better business than Hole in the Wall and it seems that Wipeout has had more success as a format worldwide than HITW.

The international versions of Wipeout including the UK all use the course in Argentina as Endemol only built two courses.

Hopefully something will replace The Vicar of Dibley the following week. I gave up watching the repeats in 2001!!!

Considering the BBC are promoting the now axed After You've Gone as one of their 'comedy highlights' this Christmas, I certainly can...

Yeah, it's strange to see AYG getting plugged in the sitcom trail. I guess they felt they were a bit light on Christmas sitcoms this year, with The Green Green Grass and Not Going Out Christmas specials being held back until 2009.

Of course, Outnumbered and Last of the Summer Wine are on over that fortnight too, but I don't think they are Christmas stories.
