no room for The Bill then on either night!

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the move of Britannia High for its final episode!

4.45pm on Saturday 20th December! Strange move, or something that should have been done a long while ago?

Also extremely bizarre but Alan Titchmarsh Christmas Show is airing on 21st December at 7pm.

Some really risky scheduling moves by ITV this Christmas!

Also Clash Of The Santas will air on Sun 21st with Marple returning the following Sunday.

The Alan Titchmarsh Show is strange as it would work better in an afternoon slot. Does anyone know if ITV are showing Star Wars Episode III on the 21st December?

God Alan Titchmarsh is the most smug man on TV.

Cant believe anyone at ITV thought that was a good idea.

Absolutely, Antiques Roadshows ratings will drop as a result but Take That will be up against Strictly and probably lose the timeslot.

I don't mind Alan Titchmarsh but his show is really awful trying to showcase the best of Britain and wheeling the usual rent a gobs like John Gaunt and Kelvin McKenzie and his audience whoops like mad when the likes of Cliff or Daniel O'Donnell appear.

Good move by ITV to put 'Dancing on Ice' at 9pm Christmas Day. With that following on from Corrie they've given themselves their best chance of taking a decent share of the late evening audience. Midsommer will likely work well against a big family film like Pirates on BBC One, so that makes a lot of sense too.

If it is on at 9pm though - that raises some interesting questions about the BBC schedule. Surely DOI must be up against The Royle Family (even ITV schedulers wouldn't be stupid enough to put it against EE or SCD, would they?!). If this is the case, then BBC must be fitting Doctor Who, Wallace and Gromit, EEx2 and Strictly all in before 9pm. How do they do that unless they dropped one of them? And if they have dropped Strictly (which would seem most likely) what goes up against Corrie?

Questions, questions...I guess we'll have to wait to find out!

On the subject of yesterdays ratings:

Absolutely terrible for ITV between 7 and 9, though its a sign of how strong Im a Celebrity is that it still pulled 8m following on from that. Another great, strong line up on BBC One, and great to see BBC Two have a good night. Top Gear is reliably brilliant for them and its always good to see top stuff like Louis Theroux get strong figures. I missed both those shows last night - so I'm looking forward to catching up on iPlayer tonight!

Putting DOI on Christmas Day is a great Idea, but I just think 9:00 is too late for it to start! It's a family show, and it must be at least hour and a half long? If I was ITV I would put it on 8:00, Only problem then is it would most likely be up against part 2 of EastEnders :/ so Maybe not!

Wallander held up well against I'm a Celebrity.

But if, as posted earlier, there will be no new episodes until 2010 then I suspect they might have been better holding the next two films until 2009.

Running them one after the other now will leave a huge gap if they stay successsful. As one offs they could have been used strategically like Doctor Who will be in 2009.

And further episodes in 2010 will not seem to viewers to be an aeon away risking them forgetting how good they are.

People do stay up later on Christmas Day though, and I suspect the DOI audience generally a little older than for ITV's other talent shows (more in common with Strictly, I would think). Like you said, any earlier and it would be torpedoed by the BBC's biggest hitters.

Current ITV1 Christmas Day Schedule
19:00 - Emmerdale
20:00 - Coronation Street
21:00 - Dancing on Ice Christmas Special

My Guesstimate BBC One Christmas Day Schedule
18:30 - EastEnders
19:00 - Doctor Who
20:00 - Wallace and Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death
20:30 - Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special
21:30 - The Royle Family
22:30 - EastEnders

Is it possible? EastEnders on that late? Has an episode of a soap (only including, Emmerdale, EastEnders & Corrie) ever been broadcast that late?? Surely not?

Yeah, I guess you are right! What type of ratings you recken it will get if screened at 9pm then?

If up against RF, and on straight after Coronation Street, I say around 5.8m? which is higher than ITV got in the same slot last year, so placing DOI at 9pm is not that of a bad idea thinking twice about it

EastEnders won't air after 10 o'clock and gavin and stacey won't air before 9.

They should stick to doing what they did last year, sod ITV, I never watch any of what they have had to offer at christmas, except for the repeats of the soaps on boxing day morning ITV2.

Good Ratings for SCD and AR

Good start for Wallander

Bad Night for ITV1 after a fantastic Saturday Night

I have to say that's a very poor schedule.

The BBC should go:

17:50 EastEnders
18:25 A Matter of Loaf Or Death
18:55 Doctor Who
20:00 EastEnders
20:30 Strictly Come Dancing
21:30 The Royale Family
22:30 Gavin And Stacey
23:10 BBC News
23:20 Late night movie

That scheduled worked amazingly well last year and a deviation from something like that would sum up BBC One under Jay Hunt - a tale of poor scheduling...

Who knows, I may be proved wrong - but can you see it doing well if there is any deviation from that or similar?

BBC1 are going to be screwed in the new year though. After Strictly ends they have nothing but ITV have another ratings behemoth in Dancing On Ice to replace The X Factor. Why the BBC didn't turn Strictly Ice Dancing into a series instead of the cack Strictly Dance Fever is beyond me!!

Agree with that one, very similar to last year's Christmas Day schedule.
