It'll be truly a disaster if BH loses against "Hole in the Wall" of all programmes tomorrow....

It really fills you with pride to see Britannia High: The Live Spectacular Finale vs. Hole in the Wall Best Bits.
I just dont get this dumbing down argument. |

I just dont get this dumbing down argument. ![]() Hole in the wall tomorrow is a 'best of' show where 'Dale Anton and Darren look back at the highlights of the series and undertake one final challenge' ![]() though to be fair it sounds better than Britannia High

And the off switch seems more attractive than both put together.

I must've missed that 150 minute special of Corrie on Wednesday.
Did last year's show have 30 mins up against Coronation St?

OK, smart arse.
Did last year's show have 30 mins up against Coronation St?Just as stiff competition as this year's, overall. ![]() Although, this year's ratings for it are very impressive. Fat Teens In Love didn't even deserve 2m. Trash TV, and that was just the trailer - I dread to think how bad the actual programme was. I can see why people (including myself) opted for the Buzzcocks repeat. |

Notice this released on the BBC Press Office site today: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pre...sherlock.shtml The BBC seem to be going for a modern reimagining of Sherlock Holmes. Quote:
Sherlock is a thrilling, funny, fast paced take on the crime drama genre set in present day London. Could be a bit of a risk. I hope it's not another Waking The Dead, Silent Witness et al type show. As much as I like these shows, we do need something different. The iconic details from Conan Doyle’s original books remain – they live at the same address, have the same names and, somewhere out there in the London of 2009, Moriarty is waiting for them. But with Moffat and Gatiss involved, any chance we might see a series? Although I'm guessing Gatiss wouldn't be involved in a series with his upcoming committment to Doctor Who. Also noticed that the two-parter 'Hunter' is due the week starting 17 January, with two of the characters from Five Days - Detective Superintendent Barclay and Detective Sergeant Amy Foster. Another 'pilot' for a possible series? I know it is another cop drama, but to be honest, it's these that pull in the ratings, so if this genre is popular with the viewers, and the shows are well written, then I can see why BBC One and ITV are producing more of these. |

ITV should really just do what the BBC do when they have a few empty slots and stick on some repeats like New Tricks that guarantee a few million viewers on the cheap. Why even bother commissioning "Fat Teens In Love" when it clearly has no redeeming features for the channel? And how on earth did a show with that title actually make it past the various commissioners, execs and schedulers to get a primetime slot?! Surely someone just burst out laughing when they saw it?

The two dramas on BBC One sound interesting - they seem to be adopting this approach of trying 'pilot' one-offs before commissioning a series. The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency worked the same way last year. Its back for a six part run in 2009. Good news if it saves them from Apparations-style flops lasting for 6 or more weeks. They do seem to be doing a lot of 're-imaginings' these days, but BBC Wales have a top track record and Moffat and gattis are both superb so I look forward to that. |

On a complete side note, what is Ch5's top rated programme.
My gut instinct says it's 'The Gadget Show' |

Hole in the wall will win. It's been getting 4million viewers compared to Britannia High's 2million. Am i right in thinking it will be partly Live with audience - because i saw tickets advertised for a Live Finale.
How much money have ITV lost on this show. |

Its the titles that do them no good. I didn't see the documentary so can't really comment on the content, but if it was a serious peice with a point to make, why did no-one think of revising that title. It sounds like the BBC Three documentaries from a couple of years ago. What they could really do with is a solid documentary brand that might develop a bit of trust and respect - and perhaps some reliability to the figures.

I saw several episodes of Apparitions including the last one which was very powerful and well acted. In fact I would say Martin Shaw had found his best role. The fact that it has disappeared without much of a trace says more of the retreating influence of religion in western society that it does about the standard of the programme. In fact if you were to dress the show in different clothes and call it "Prime Suspect" or indeed "Messiah" it would have got double the audience I reckon. |

This is the type of show that would be perfect on BBC2 and 3 million would be seen as acceptable. Unfortunately BBC2 don't do series anymore because all of their money has gone to the God awful BBC3. |

The second Strictly show has a brilliant slot tonight and only has to deal with One Night Only which will probably be lucky to see much over 3 million viewers. With lots of controversy, it could do really well.
