I think this upcoming series of DOI should be contrasted with SCD 2009 rather than than 2008. We dont know what diiferences there will be in terrestrial television come next year.

December 2008 >> March/April 2009
*difference - 3/4 months

March/April 2009 >> December 2009
*difference - 8/9 months

DOI 2009 should be compared with SCD 2008 because of the reason directly above.

Sorry, but I think BBC1 has the best Saturday night schedule.

Wipeout is hilarious - I said on this thread that ITV should buy it back when it aired in the US, but I guess they weren't interested. It's perfect family entertainment.

Eurovision is essentially Maria, Joseph, Oliver, but with Eurovision instead, so should do really well.

In It to Win It is the best and highest rating of the lottery shows.

Casualty got really excellent last year, but isnt as good just now. Still getting good ratings though.

Other than Demons, which I'm sure will be good, I fail to see the attraction of anything on ITV's schedule. FA Cup will do well some of its weeks its on, depending who is playing.

Great ratings for SCD and good for Outnumbered as well. The talent shows have really hit highs this year and I think that it could seap into other light entertainment shows next year.

ITV1 do have some strong shows next year in the drama department but they really need to work on the factual side. Stuff like Journey to the Edge of the World and Islands of Britain are promising but stuff like T&S and Extreme Slimmers are asking to be flops.

But apart from Wipeout, you haven't actually pointed out what's attractive about BBC One's schedule apart from "gets good ratings" and "that'll get good ratings".

Reading that article and the shit that was placed around an already awful programme actually makes me feel sick in my mouth! I know ITV still go over the top with their celebrity-led programming but my god, it's nothing compared to the mind-numbing dross they thoughtlessly chucked at the aerials of Britain.

There's a radio phone-in right now, and the host has implied that this year's Strictly is a flop because it's 1m behind The X Factor. What he doesn't realise is that it got its best ratings ever.

Anyone know what the BBC are doing with the Six Nations night game?

It's on Friday 27th February at 8pm.

BBC1? It's France v Wales, so probably BBC2, but these games can get 5-6m, so I think they should go for BBC1.

They seem keen to add more Friday night fixtures in future years, so if it works out for them they could have a huge hit on their hands, with potentially 5 games a year live in primetime Friday nights.

Well its a ratings thread. So when I said BBC1 had the best line-up I was actually talking about ratings.

Sorry if anyone was confused.

You can bet BBC Wales will force it onto BBC One Wales, even if the network leaves the game on Two.

I like a talent/entertainment show for singers. In much the same way that I like some drama's and some comedy.

Lol . I don't think Strictly has been that stale this year, contrary to reports. Otherwise I think its ratings would have seen a decline.

But I would like to see some minor tweaks to it next year. Better camerawork, no dance-off from quarter finals.

Two shows if you count the singers on BGT?

Maybe, although I tend to prefer the non singers (at least the non pop singers) on BGT. There was a guy on it this year who could just as easily have been on XF, but he was 3 months early for me to be paying any attention to him! None of the top 5 this year would be found on X Factor.

This Eurovision effort sounds like Grease Is The Word. Lets just throw out any hopeless concept because we need something to fill a few months. A singing show with a different (and awful) prize. Plus talent shows on BBC1 are almost guaranteed to get ratings... aren't they?

Or rather the BBC iPlayer ad is helping swell Simon Cowell's pockets even more.

He owns the royalties to the 3 versions of the song......so everytime the BBC play it, he earns thousands.

Time will tell, on the ratings front, I suppose.

The one night programmes for choosing Eurovision songs have usually rated decently. Will be interesting to see what appetite there is for a full series.

No he doesn't.

Sony BMG receives the royalties.

Fantastic Ratings for SCD - Highest Ever best finale ever aswell in my opinion.

Fantastic to see Casualty getting 7m again it's a long time since I saw that.

Outnumbered getting 7m

I think EastEnders , Doctor Who and The Royle Family will get over that

EastEnders part 1 : 11.5m
EastEnders part 2 : 12.3m
Doctor Who 12m
The Royle Family 11.8m

I think it should get put on BBC One as Wales did win last years Six Nations after all.

I think BBC One could do for that night:
18:00 - BBC News
18:30 - Regional News
19:00 - EastEnders
19:30 - Six Nations Live
22:00 - BBC News

Which, however, would of course force ITV to change their schedule. IMO, they could do (providing it does similar type of Friday schedule from last year):

18:00 - Regional News
18:30 - ITV News
19:00 - You've Been Framed!
19:30 - Coronation Street
20:00 - Emmerdale
20:30 - Moving Wallpaper
21:00 - Coronation Street
21:30 - Benidorm
22:00 - It'll Be Alright on the Night!
22:30 - The Late News

IMO, this would be a "good" experiment to do, providing BBC be bold and shift EastEnders to 7pm and put Six Nations on BBC One. If it worked, they could consider it in the future. IMO, the ITV schedule can keep viewers for the whole night - with Moving Wallpaper a good filler with 4m. I think MW works better between soaps as it'd hopefully keep viewers with the channel instead of potentional channel-hopping if MW was after Corrie.

I don't know why people are saying that the BBC One schedule wont do well. Last year Casualty and In it to Win it were hitting figures of 7 and 8 million, even with a 5 million lead in from the One and Only and that is why I'm expecting the BBC One schedule to beat ITV's for most of the night.

****ing hell, someone needs to do something.

This is probably what I'd do:-

ITV1:

7:00pm Emmerdale
7:30pm House Guest
8:00pm Send In The Dogs [New Series]
9:00pm Who Wants to be a Millionaire?
10:00pm News at Ten
10:30pm Real Crime: The Robbie Sykes Murder [New]

ITV2:

7:00pm Smallville
8:00pm Trinny & Susannah
9:00pm Extreme Slimmers
10:00pm The Best of Jordan & Peter
11:00pm George's Finest Hour [New]

^ Your schedule is far better (but it's easy to beat ITV's schedule for that particular day- it's that bad!).

You can't kill off our Robbie!! Nnnoooooooooooo!

"Hole in the Wall - Robbie vs. George" would probably bring in more viewers though.
