Wow. RIP Claire.

I was looking forward to her next stint...but she left so quick!

Hope Dr Browning rots for murdering the legend, Miss Claire Devine. By the way, RIP Lindsay.

It was rather sudden. Would have loved for her to stay for a while, and interact more with Trevor and her dad!

This stint was far better than her last two little bit gutted but the show has the move forward not backwards in order to regain viewers...

Awful decision and a terrible shame as I thought we were finally about to discover what makes Clare tick. She should have stayed and been given family long ago, it wasn't her time.

My favourite Hollyoaks villain of all time and a legend nevertheless.

Yet another totally wasted opportunity in the pursuit of shock value and to increase the stunt death toll even though she wasn't taken out by the bomb. It would have been better had she been caught up in it and perished that way. The fact that Browning (one of the worst characters and actors the show has ever seen) was behind her departure makes it even more annoying

Sienna has replaced Clare as the bitch from hell and there wasn't room for both of them, although together I think they would have been great, two warped minds are better than one!

She should have gone out with a bang, being run over by Shirley was not what Clare deserved. Would have loved to have found out more why she is the way she is.

I agree. Her exit was poor, lazy and did the character no justice whatsoever. Now if she had blown herself up it would have been more fitting and the ultimate comeuppancefor the character.

I can't quite wrap my head around why they've done this. Clare was one of the breakout stars of Hollyoaks. We won't see the likes of her again. They wrote her into a corner deliberately and made it impossible for her to continue in the series. Why waste one of the show's greatest creations on such a throwaway twist?

I'm exactly the same! I had such high hopes for development and there was a real on screen chemistry between Clare, Trevor and Fraser, the dynamics would have been dynamite.

I'm extremely annoyed that Browning killed her as I absolutely loathed the character and he is nowhere near legendary as Clare and never will be!

Ever since that silly nonsense with the kidnapping Clare's days were numbered. I was completely aghast as to how she could return in a such a lame and totally unbelievable storyline. Totally ruined from that point onwards and then she returns for a mere few episodes before getting mown down and killed! Ludicrous!

I don't want to meet her chip off the old block sister either I wanted more Clare!

Sienna is the closest nutter we've had next to Clare but she's not quite evil enough and she too has a shelf life, soon to expire.

I really do think as Clare had to die, she should have blown herself up along with the others or at least been mowed down whilst saving Tom. Ironically, it would have been exactly the same death as Max and also in her final moments would have proved that she did have a heart in there somewhere and offered a bit of closure.

I'm gutted there will be no more Clare and Tom scenes. They completely wasted her. There was so much more she could have done now that Fraser and Trevor are around. I have to wonder if the actress decided against staying in the show after the poor reception to her return earlier in the year

Possibly. There appeared to be many new viewers to Hollyoaks upon Clare's return whom without having seen her fantastic original stint seemed to find it impossible to warm to her or like the character in any way. She wasn't given the time of day and instantly disliked.

The storyline was dire, the scripts were terrible, Gemma could only work with what she had and that was a shockingly poor idea sadly. I didn't get the sudden connection to Browning and Mercedes either and the way she returned was just silly and totally irrelevant. Clare still had plenty of connections remaining in the village and her return should have centred around them. Her moment of glory should then have been being announced as the mystery new club owner, another opportunity missed. Fraser and Trevor should then have followed her into the village.

Astonishingly, BK cocked it up good and proper and I can't forgive him for that with Clare being his baby and undoubtedly his best creation ever. All great things do come to an end, however, there was plenty left to explore with Clare and even an opportunity to redeem the character to some extent by finally revealing to the audience exactly who she was.

Now we'll never know

I haven't enjoyed BK at the helm this time. It's become very plot led and everything seems to revolve around the latest shock twist they can dream up. It was so good during his first era with Clare, Hannah's anorexia, John Paul and Craig and many more storylines that delved into the characters over a long period of time. This time Clare came back and 5 minutes later she's dead while her dad (!) is still there? It makes no sense

At least we'll soon have Clare's sister.

It's a shame Clare herself was killed off, but that Mercedes/Browning kidnap storyline earlier in the year was awfully written, not well received by viewers and ruined the character. They should never have done it.

Any idea who will play her?
