This might be a novel idea but why don't we just start the spoiler thread when the result is imminent?
The one this week started at mid afternoon!!!!?
The show hadn't even started !!!!!
So tonight, when I wanted to find out the results I had to scroll through 50+ pages of drivel to find out what I needed to know

Just go to the last page, ignore all the inane chat that's what I usually do.

The spoiler thread's usually bombarded with talk of people sharing "cyber food/drink" with each other......reminds me of play time in primary school tbh. Nothink wrong with childish fun, just needs to be in the right thread imo.

Perhaps having a spoiler thread and a separate cyber party/ SCD chat thread would help?

I've always thought that would be a much better idea too. Just start a new thread when the actual result is announced and have the result revealed in the first post. People will know exactly where to find it then.

Just go to the last page and don't be party poopers. There is absolutely no need to go through 50 pages. When the result is in all the party talk stops & the result is discussed so it's really hard to miss. Anyone not sure of the result can post & get the answer immediately from several different posters as happened last night. Most weeks we get at least one new poster on the DS on the thread, more often than not someone who has read the thread for weeks & finally posted because of the generally friendly atmosphere.

The result is usually re-posted at once in the Attic Cafe thread (upstairs) and it's easy to find there. Thanks to all the spoiler people, by the way

What's wrong with people having a bit of fun. I go to the last page and work back if I want to find out quickly. Otherwise I join in.

If you've got someone who can give you the spoiler every week then you can choose to do the spoiler thread your way. If not, just be glad someone else is willing to let you know.

I don't post but usually find some real gems hidden amongst the `drivel and inane chat`(as you both called it) to each there own, it doesn't bother me. I normally start checking the thread around 10.30pm and go to the last page and then keep refreshing. Now, for instance, there are some great posts about points scoring on there.

.. then scan back a few pages to see if the result has come from either a reputable source or has been corroborated.

BIB No you didn't. You could easily do what I do and go to the last post and scroll back a little to get the info. I don't read much of the stuff where people are having a bit of fun while waiting and I certainly wouldn't expect them to stop dojng it. I'm not a party pooper.
Oh and this isn't twitter so the # is drivel in itself. Just saying.

there's a novel idea. The "drivel" as it is put is mostly whilst the participants are filling in time while waiting. There was a lot last night (and I believe was a bit exceptional) as a spoiler came in from an unexpected source and the expected source was a tad tardy in delivering the goods. It's all fun, and what's the harm in it? If you want to open your Christmas presents before the day, you have to work for it

This morning I wanted to find out who went last night ..... all I had to do was scroll back two pages...no big hardship....

couldnt have put it better.

Being in the spoiler thread is fun, and is one of the highlights of my Strictly season, along with pandacam, kittencam.

Why the need to go through 50 pages - you'll find out what you want to know by going directly to the last page.

Nice idea as long as you didn't look for the result between 22:28 and 23:14 yesterday.

Instead of '#justsaying' (is there any more passive agressive phrase than that?) why not do exactly that next week? Find out who's going to the show, arrange to get the spoiler sent to you, and then start the thread yourself when you get the result, with the spoiler in the first post. What would be so hard about doing that, if that's what you would like to see happen?

Or, when you say 'why don't we just start the spoiler thread when the result is imminent?', do you actually mean 'why don't other people do exactly what I want them to do on DS?' ?

lol people say this every year. It is what it is. Works well for me. I'm just grateful that I don't have to spend time checking who has been dropped from the betting shop lists!

Agree with you Bear but it is possible that the op hadn't actually thought through what is involved in getting the spoilers. What she could do is use the information she gleans from trogging through drivel and start yet another thread but the mods might not like

Perhaps it might be a good idea to put the spoil again near the top of each page. I couldn't stay up late last night and this morning went through quite a few pages to find out who was in the dance off but more so who actually went out.

I always go onto the spoiler thread about 10ish - although I just lurk in the background and don't post it is all just a bit of fun. I just keep updating it until there's a definite result whilst I'm doing other things. I had already decided that if for any reason I couldn't do that I would just wait and check it in the morning. I am grateful that there are people taking the time to do it at all - the person who has set the thread up - the one who has gone to the show and takes the time to send the text and the one who is hanging around waiting to receive it and post it in the spoiler thread. So my thanks to all involved. If some like to 'chat' amongst themselves during the day whilst waiting that is up to them and I don't see the problem?

No it didn't, it started the day before on Friday! And I think people should start threads at whatever point they choose.

The thread's not just there for your benefit. We are lucky to have people that provide spoilers at all.

And anyway, you don't have to go through 50 pages to find out the result, you can just start at the last page and work backwards. That's what I do.
