I suggested that a while back and did I get some grief!

Why someone sometimes starts such a thread as early as a day before the programme makes no sense at all.

The thread gets filled with all sorts of trivia, much of it only interesting to the person who wrote it and "their best friend."

What it needs is a "Spoiler result thread" and only the confirmed result posted on it.
That can be duplicated by any other post from a different informed source, actually confirming the result. This should not then include any comments.

There were no end of "testimonials" on the latest one.

There's no reason why there shouldn't be a second thread "Spoiler result discussion," so those that chose to discuss it can, without revealing the result to anyone who didn't want to know.

Now that I think is basic common sense.

But this is DS.

Alternatively the idea of the spoilers gets dropped completely, the party goes on with the guesswork and chat, no-one gets any grief for being the unofficial mole, no-one gets it in the neck from dissatisfied spoiler hunters and everyone has to wait until Sunday and the person who goes to the trouble of organising informants and/or the sweepstake can go to bed at a reasonable time safe in the knowledge that no-one is going to have a go at them for their hard work....

I started the thread this week and some of us put in work to make sure we had a spoiler.

But you go ahead, you're in charge this week. Go and find someone who is going, PM them, arrange to get their text number, wait for them to text you, panic because the result is really late and then read the next morning that some poor soul didn't get it served to them on a plate like they wanted it.

I await your 10.20 to midnight thread with interest.

As far as I'm aware, press gangs aren't roaming the streets forcing you to read the spoiler thread. So why spoil others' bit of weekly fun just because you cant be arsed to do what others suggest - ie starting at the back of the thread and working back?

Thanks Alli . I walked on this morning , found the spoiler thread clicked the last post and there it was .Plain as day , clear as a bell and easy to find .

I've just checked the last page of the spoiler thread to find the info and look, there it is #justsaying

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Plus, I suggest that it is restricted to just posts concerning who is in the bottom 2 and out. Should only have one or 2 posts in it at most!! Can always start another thread for SPOILER CHAT.

I came on here expecting to find a 'new' idea (as per the title of the thread). What I have found is an ancient idea that has never caught on.

But last night it was not quite as easy getting to the information. In fact, there were 2 celebs suggested that were false alarms and only this morning did I find out the real result. Too much chit-chat to wade through..

I didn't realise they were forced into the thread by gunpoint.

I'm sure you're allowed to start any thread you like. and whenever you like.

some people enjoy it as it is, so why change it, just because some don't?
Why not create another one as soon as it is confirmed?

It is one of the best threads on this forums! Dont take too much notice. It is easy to create a second one just about the spoiler.

Probably because it's too much effort to have to wade through all of our chit chat to find the result.

And for anyone moaning, I usually post the spoiler in the non appreciation thread in spoiler tags if you don't want to wade through the spoiler thread. That moves fast, but not that fast, so you'd probably find it in the last couple of pages the next morning.

I'm going to stick my neck out here - which is a thing I NEVER do being a coward - but I am shocked at the ingratitude of some of the comments on here. If anyone dosn't like the thread or how it flows or whatever then just don't read it (maybe start your own)?! If you wait until the morning it's easy to find the result so why criticise or complain about the efforts others have put in - they could just as easily keep the information to themselves.

I love DS, it's a laugh a minute. It's so often only a choice of "feast or famine" with some.

I suggested a perfectly workable arrangement.

One spoiler thread for just the result.

Another spoiler thread for those who want to talk about the result before and after the information is received and before the Sunday programme.

I don't know why anything other than apathy is stopping any of the people who don't like the 50+ page spoiler thread just starting their own Spoiler Announcement - no chat topic each week. Anyone can start it. What's stopping them?

Nothing. go ahead do it, rather than actually moaning about it.

But a vocal minority moan about it but never actually do anything. It's actually a lot of work in the spoiler thread, enjoyable, fun but stressful, especially if the result is late, I found that out last night when I did it for the first time and it's a bit of a kick in the teeth that no-one moans about getting the result but moans about the way they get it.


Well then find a way that works for you. The people in the spoiler thread on a Saturday - that way works for them.

So are you prepared to sort it all out next week and do the thread? You can do it the way you want then.
I suspect like the other moaners though you would rather others did the work.
As for wading through the chit chat who was holding a gun to your head and making you?

So put your money where your mouth is and do it. That way everyone will be happy.

There were false rumours circulating on Twitter. There isn't much the spoiler thread can do about that. I'm particularly gutted - if the false lead had been right, I would have won the spoiler time competition

Yep. Maybe those who want the one post spoiler thread could form themselves a little group (or even a... clique!) and take it in turns to monitor the spoiler thread from about 11pm until the result. Such an easy thing to do but it's just feast or famine with these contrarians...

However, I'm not entirely sure this whole topic was anything but a windup from the start...

If someone takes the effort to post the result on the spoiler, there's no need for people like you to add hundreds of comments, many of which are just "personal chat" to make it more difficult for others to find out the result, which forgive me for saying, was what I thought was the idea of the spoiler in the first place!
