You know what? I think people should leave other people's threads alone. If the peeps that create the spoiler thread together each week are good enough to ferret out and post the result then I think we should be damned grateful to them and thank our lucky stars they can be bothered.

All we have to do is to be bothered to scroll forward to the last page or to about 10.30pm to get our impatience satisfied (or avoid the thread if we like a Sunday surprise). I applaud them and if they want to chat about foodstuffs or such like then all the best to them.

My gratitude in bucketfuls to the spoiler team. But I do have a question.

When like last night you get an unexpected spoiler ahead of the earmarked mole and the unexpected spoiler turns out to be correct, how do you decide who won the sweepstakes?

I can't believe people are having a go at the spoiler posters! I don't post but I do go in to keep an eye cos I can't wait til Sunday

I love reading the "chit chat", it makes it more fun and a shared experience, similar to the soap episode threads on the soap forum, which we usually go into at least an hour before the start to discuss the spoilers and "have a natter"

Last night it came in too late for me, but I checked this morning and there was the result about 2 pages back!

I want to thank the girls (and boys? ) for taking the time to do it, as with the soap thread Rota it adds to the experience.

Perfectly agree with this. Anyone can start a thread any time they like. You don't have to do anything at all that you don't want to do. You don't have to look through 50 odd pages to look for something. I certainly didn't. Having got home at 10pm yesterday evening I immediately looked at the last page having lurked on the spoiler thread for years knowing the result usually comes in between 10 and 11.30pm.

If you're gonna look for a spoiler that comes in at that time BEFORE the show starts then that's your too bad but if you've come for the chat and the usual friendliness (of which I found some people to be nicer than others) then great.

Keep the spoiler thread as it is guys. Those who put in the work for us do a great job and unless the idea is a novel one which will actually do something to help rather than criticise it should really be left unsaid!

Not missing any point, just disagreeing with you as is the point of a discussion board. You don't like the way it's done, get together and do it in a way you do like.

The spoiler thread is not just to provide the result, it's also to discuss the result and stop spoilers clogging up the board and ruining it for those who not want to know. It's now grown into a chat thread, if it was breaking t & c mods would inform us.

No need to change anything. Just need a clear notice of who is giving the spoiler, anyone who is going to be at the show and how the spoiler will be announced.

Last night got messy because we didn't know a particular Forum Member was there and could give a legitimate result.

Do you really think that if someone posts a spoiler thread saying 'no comments' that people would actually not make comments?! Come on, how many threads here ever stay on topic? Anyone is free to do what they like, but don't expect everyone to follow your instructions.

I don't understand what the problem is. I personally don't take part in the discussions, but evey fifteen minutes or so I check the thread to find out the spoiler. Last night I checked and looked back a page before I found it, it's not that difficult.

And how long would it stay near the top for people to see if you did obey the instruction?

I do get it - you have put forward a solution that you think is the best one, and you keep telling people that your solution is the best one, but you haven't yet put it into practice and you never will. All noise, no action.

As has been pointed out numerous times in this thread, no one forces you to look for the spoiler and if you want to look for it do as has been suggested - go to the final page and work back. Be thankful that there is a place where you can go to see the result if you so wish. Leave those of us sad people who enjoy our virtual party alone.

Yes indeedy. This forum is a COMMUNITY of people DISCUSSING a TV show. The forum has traditions that some members may or may not like & the spoiler thread is one of them. The result is not just plucked out of the air it takes friendship, trust & co-ordination built up over time. I personally post very little in the spoiler thread but always join it during the last hour & let people do their own thing.

Oh please dont change the spoiler thread. It is about the only place on DS where I am likely to find decent chat and not just peeps throwing insults and being nasty.

BIB I get that and understand that and have no problems with the spoiler thread per se but because of the friendships that have been built up over time which is absolutely fair enough I was annoyed when someone said to another poster

"Welcome to one of the friendliest threads on ds" or something of that ilk because I'd actually found it to be less so. My first post in a spoiler thread was quoted and and led to a gross criticism of my favourite couple by two posters.

As I've said previously though some people including yourself were much nicer but I think I will stick to letting people get on with their own thing too.

Exactly. Spoiler thread posters have to get to know the ones who are sending the spoiler so they know they can be trusted as wrong spoilers have been sent in the past by people who think it's funny. If there was a thread just for the spoiler and no chat, how would anyone know the result was correct without a group of people who have put in the work to get the result (pms, texts and finding a mole) and verify the sender ? People should be grateful and stop moaning.

It's all very simple, if you and the OP don't like how the spoiler is served then do something about it. The rest of us are grateful that someone works hard to find someone to provide the spoiler and start the thread.

No no, sorry it was actually last night. I'd posted that I hadn't actually seen the show and was looking in for the spoiler first and that my fave couple this year is Ashley and Ola.

The reply posts basically implied "don't bother watching, he wasn't that good" which made me slightly upset.

I had a rough day anyway and maybe took it a little bit the wrong way.

I never liked Gethin anyway - thought he was lucky to get as far as he did but not sure he deserved to go the week he did on the other hand ...
