Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this belongs on this thread or the 'advice' one, so please feel free to move if required.

I will be holidaying in London for 2 weeks soon and I was wondering if people had any places they'd reconvened going to eat.

I'll be staying around Marble Arch so could you please recommend places in and around that area (20mins walk)

Places of interest for eating out are basic: Fish n Chips, Pizza places, Chinese and Indian restaurants.

Finally what is the nearest tube station to the place.

Thanks for the suggestions.

There's a Ask near Marble Arch, you might find a deal if you look online. The nearest station to Marble Arch is Marble Arch.

I'd avoid Fish & Chips, London is not renowned for it. There are some great bargains to be had in London believe it or not, have a look on Tripadvisor at what's near your hotel.

I have only been to London once and I went for lunch in Henry's in Covent Garden. Found the food far better than other Henry's I have been to

I'll third it.

Can't agree on La Bodega Negra though - I thought the food was distinctly average and overpriced.

Hawksmoor is great for a steak.

There's plenty of restaurants in Chinatown. Take your pick.

Meat Liquor is pretty good as far as a upmarket fast food burger type meal goes, pretty good value.

Soho Joe is great value for Pizza, and the food is great there too.

I'd recommend either, and both within a 30 minute walk of where you're staying

Don't be scared about jumping on the tube for a bit, you'll be limiting yourself by only eating there

Yes, spending a fortnight in London, but limiting yourself to the vicinity of your hotel is a bit pointless.

About 3 years ago we went to a nice place at Picadilly called the Criterion. They did a lunchtime deal with three courses for £25 and the food was good. Can't say what it's like now though.

They also filmed a bit of The Dark Knight there!

I agree, there are some great places in London and they aren't all expensive, either.

We like Porter's Restaurant in Covent Garden, a bit pricey not not bad for the area, Camden Bar and Kitchen is always a favourite as well as the pubs around Euston/ St. Pancras Stations, like The Skinner's Arms in Judd Street.

There are also some really good restaurants around The Angel, Islington.

I'll second hawksmoor then
For Indian food, masala zone in Covent garden is excellent and reasonably priced. For more upmarket fayre, try benares.
The chop house over in butlers wharf is also a good place

There's a load of Lebanese restaurants on the nearby Edgware road. It's like a little Beirut Maroush is good.

I agree though it is so easy to get around in London you can venture further afield than where you are staying.

If you want to go somewhere a little special this place is fab http://www.benaresrestaurant.com/

http://www.baileysfulham.com/ - this is the best fish and chip place is London. It is 6th out of 14,000 restaurants in London on Trip Advisor

It is pretty bonkers to go all the way to London for a holiday and spend it all within 20 mins walk of Marble Arch!

Check out Time Out's best restaurant recommendations. There'll be a list of the best fish and chip restaurants, best Chinese, etc.

Get on the tube! Travel! Make the most of it! Otherwise you'll end up at Maccy D's Marble Arch or eating a rank bit of pizza on the street outside some tourist trap on Oxford Street!

Trip Advisor is great for finding restaurants and other people's dining experiences.
