If his stint does not work out, then I do think it will be too late for EastEnders. Too much damage will be done, more viewers will drop off and it will reach the point of no recovery.
DTC has a tough task on his hands trying to gain the viewers lost. There is so much riding on him. He has unbelievable amounts of pressure to turn the show around in its current state. IF - and this is a big if - he can't do it, I can't see EE ever restoring thier glory days. Too much damage will be done at this point and it will have mearly a few years before its axe. Call me melodramatic, whatever, but I really do think IF we have yet another failed exec, EE's days are numbered. Luckily, I actually have faith and do think DTC will restore EastEnders. I haven't felt this optimistic about EE in a while. Will he be able to fix it? No he's only one person and shows problems go back years but I do think he will lead it down the path of recovery and hopefully by the time his stint finishes the show will be a much healthier state. |

I'm also confident that Dominic can turn the show around and I've felt negative about EastEnders for nearly four years now. How can you turn around a show that's been on a slippery slope for 4 years? It's such a long time to be in decline quality wise, but I'm confident he can manage it. I do think he could be more ballsy with his decision making though - he's been doing the right things so far, like putting new characters in the Vic and axing some characters, but I do think 75% of the cast should go and there should be a massive disaster heavily promoted to get the viewers back. Before this disaster can happen, they should make sure there's a huge storyline that begins as a result of the disaster to keep the viewers hooked. It's all well and good saying that we need good writing and character consistency and not cheap stunts.. but they do need to do something on a big scale initially (and have a decent amount of money pumped into it) to get itself noticed again and get viewers returning in big numbers. Then they need to make sure good writing and storylines are ready in place to pick up straight away from the disaster. |

I will give the guy a chance but always thought he was an arrogant **** over the Danielle ending.
Hopefully he will do EE justice and turn it round. |

I don't think it's worth thinking about to be honest. He seems to have a vision of Eastenders and knows what he wants to do and how he is gonna get it. As long as it improves then I will count him as successful.

I'm going the opposite way this time, if they [the EE team] want me back a viewer - I know I'm only one but hey ho - they have to impress me and make me want to give up 2 hours of my time.

Not entirely sure if the show can survive another EP as bad as the last two, nor will they let it happen again. If the show is allowed to continue to sink, its days are numbered. It's a shadow of it's former self, it's lost viewers a plenty... he really does have his work cut out.
I just hope he realizes that it's not just sensationalism and a new cast the show needs. It's lost its identity, as has its characters, and needs to find that. An intriguing character like Danny should not be wasted on slutty conversations between Lucy and Whitney. Newman had a habit of turning interesting ideas into infantile crap with unlikable characters. Good luck, |

Well what does DTC have to do to make you watch again? Why do you think Eastenders has lost viewers? I think its the lack of no drama and really good storylines like topic they have never done before like Bulimia/Anorexia, someone becoming addicted to drugs like heroin and ecstasy or someone getting bullied on the internet and then start self harming themselves.

Kind of steering away from the discussion, but when will we start hearing about storylines?
We've heard about axings and new characters, but nothing on storylines! I really am getting impatient waiting on an interview!
