Reminds me of a young Keith Chegwin.

I just can't understand the appeal of this kid. He doesn't have the voice nor the looks nor any kind of charisma or star quality that I can see. To me he's the epitome of dull. Why's everyone going so crazy about him?! Seriously, I'm baffled! What am I missing here?!

For those who dislike him (I don't know why they dislike him personally, he isn't a great singer though), I'm afraid to say to those people that he will go far. He trended worldwide tonight and his Twitter follower numbers are very high already!

Well I neither like nor dislike him as a person. I was just saying I can't see the appeal of him at all and what makes him anything other than ordinary?! If he was a good singer or good looking or had a great personality or charisma or something I'd understand but I don't see any of those things in him so I guess I'm just baffled! What's the great appeal about him as a performer?

He's...relatively wholesome and hard-working? Not much of an answer, I know, but couple that with ordinary-to-good looks (in a wholesome way) and a voice that probably isn't the worst in the competition and seems to be benefiting from coaching, and I can see him appealing to a proportion of the audience from teenage girls to their mums and grans (and, yes, some guys of all ages too). Careers have been built on less before now.

It's funny how we demand such high standards from our contestants in terms of voice, when there are plenty of musicians out there, working, making hits who are vocally assisted on their records! |

I think he's a pretty good singer. Of all the singers on Saturday night he's the only one who caught my attention enough for me to actually watch him sing. And I watched his performance more than once, which I can't say for any of the other acts either. Also, he's a very likeable person, he seems hard working and genuine, unlike some others in the competition.

They're trying to market him as a poor man's British Bieber. It's just that he's not very endearing or even cute. You need a George or a Harry Styles to really make that stick. I think Luke Friend might go further on the young teen appeal.
