Jake Wood Eastenders.
The scene where he tells Tanya about his dad locking him in a coffin still stays with me after 6 years! Absolutely amazing. |

One of my favourites was Jacqui McQueens in the bus crash aftermath. Heartbreaking when Rhys died and her reaction was brilliant.

I thought the scene between Cain and Zak Dingle in Emmerdale, where Zak was revealed as Cain's attacker was really memorable. They covered so much ground, from Cain making Zak face up to his own serious mistakes as a father, to Zak forcing Cain to choose to 'do the right thing' by Charity and Jai. Both actors played a blinder in that scene.

OP - totally agree about Hilda's scene. When she picked up Stan's glasses and started sobbing I was a gonner.

Samantha Womack throughout the whole of Archie and Peggy's Wedding, she was actually BRILLIANT and I never cared for the character Ronnie before that episode I don't think
Although I didn't watch it regularly, Emma Rigby was BRILLIANT in Hannah's Anorexia Lacey Turner was fabulous in Stacey's Bipolar too There's too many to choose from I guess, but those 3 are big standouts |

Emma Rigby in HO when her friend Melissa died of Anorexia. The scenes of her getting sectioned from all the Ashworth family deserve a mention too.

Kacey Ainsworth as Little Mo during her abuse storyline, her and Alex Ferns performances were amazing! However I think it was fantastic because the story arc was done so well.

Two of ee greatest actresses, and some of their finest moments:
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WcpHLeLP7L0 http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lSLj9j7oJNk Lindsay coulson would complete the trifecta; these 3 actresses generally excelled in every scene they were in; and could go from subtle realism to high melodrama in the blink of an eye - it is the latter that is a defining characteristic of great acting in soap. Jessie Wallace, tamzin outhwaite, June brown, etc are all good but not as good. And of course, the above episode where Angie says she has cancer is a seminal moment not just in soap but British TV (because prior to this point no one felt that only 2 actors could carry 1/2 of drama; because Angie broke the 4th wall as the duff duff; and because Anita gave one of the greatest performances on TV). IMO ee has not feared quite so well with male actors; probably due to the story lines - but I don't think any actor has matched the heights of the above. |

Lindsey Coulson when Billie died.
Patsy Palmer (underrated actress) when she discovered the truth about Tony and Whitney. Jo Joyner when Tanya has a panic attack at her chemo session. Lacey Turner when Stacey was sectioned. Gillian Wright when Jean was sectioned. Kacey Ainsworth when Trevor abused her. Natalie Cassidy when Jamie died. Charlotte Bellamy when Daniel died. Charley Webb throughout killer Cameron. Lucy Pargeter throughout killer Cameron. Alison King throughout Carla's rape ordeal, especially the aftermath with Frank. Jane Danson in Corrie live (she can cry at the drop of a hat) Katherine Kelly during her Corrie exit. Suranne Jones as Karen during her wedding to Steve. |

Emmet Scanlan as Brendan Brady during the storyline with his dad and the abuse
Little Mo and Trevor in eastenders think that storyline is the best ive ever seen in a soap Vera and Jack in coronation st during both their deaths- beautiful and touching and just so low key Lacey Turner as stacey when she was sectioned |

The character portrayal was amazing. The anger, bitterness and despair at how her first born child - who she'd fought so hard to keep - had betrayed her was just heartbreaking and totally convincing.

Lindsay Coulson, Kacey Ainsworth, Alex Ferns and Jessie Wallace have done some brilliant work and id say they are some of the best, shame Lindsay is completely underused and Kacey was wasted after 2003.
Grantham and Dobson as well are up there. |

Alison King during the rape storyline and another mention for Emma Rigby in Hannahs anorexia.
I also think Charley Webb for last weeks Emmerdale. |
