Every Eastenders fan have lots of hope for the shows future and have put all their faith into this DTC hoping that he will bring the show back to it's glory days.

BUT what if he's rubbish?, what if he's worse than both Kirkwood and Newman? He is bringing in a new family with Danny Dyer as the head and because of that people think he's the greatest ever.

I get that your all excited but you could be building your hopes up only to get them shattered again.

...erm, I don't have huge expectations at all. Also, how can you speak for everyone?

I think we all know DTC isn't the Messiah, he's not going to make miracles.

More than anything we're hoping that he'll give us more interesting plots than tins of tuna and bags of rubbish. But he'll be by no means perfect and I don't think any of us are that deluded.

That doesn't mean we cannot look forward to the changes.

I'm not expecting anything, I don't like speculating what might happen either to avoid disappointment!

I don't like knowing what will happen

He's the shows last chance. If he fails it could possibly get axed so that's why everyone is hoping for him to do a good job.

That's a bit extreme....

I wouldn't go that far.

I don't think he's the greatest ever but I am optimistic. So far he's axings have been spot on imo, though I wished he'd axe some more pointless characters.

He's not going to be John Yorke good, but he'll at least get some grittiness back to the show and make it entertaining for fans.

Stop generalizing all EE fans in these kind of threads also.

It's possible the show ratings are low and it's been bad since Kirkwood. Also would the BBC even care if they lost Eastenders? It now has the likes of Strictly, Doctor Who and The Voice that bring in millions of viewers much more than Eastenders could ever dream of. The BBC have went onto bigger things and Eastenders isn't the flagship show anymore.

If they axed EE they would probably just move Doctors to EE's time slot and put more funding behind it.

That wouldn't be a bad idea because Doctors is fresh and would really benefit would a nightime slot.

We aren't setting ourselves up for a mighty fall, we are just being optimistic about the future.

If you go into the show thinking it's gonna be shit, you will come out of it thinking it was shit.

I do think they'd care. Quite a lot, actually.

I'm not expecting anything but DTC is a life long fan of the show and he would not rubbish it like Newman and Kirkwood did.

Blimey if you think Eastenders is bad, Doctors is worse. They had a whole episode dedicated to where they should stick their mug tree in the kitchen once. I was so bored.

I'm speaking for myself but when I heard Bryan Kirkwood was becoming the producer I was very excited because of the good job he did on Hollyoaks but after a year and his arrogant axings I was left with a very sour taste in my mouth.

I agree Doctors is horrendous but back in the Mac, Kate and Helen days it was one of my favourite shows but now it's boring.
