I'm not finding much to talk about this season - it is fairly predictable who will be leaving in the next few weeks. I don't have strong feelings about any of the contestants (positive or negative). No memorable banter between the judges as of yet... basically it's been a very bland affair so far.

Too many weak acts and too predictable.

Anyone know what the ratings are?

Apparently doing worse than Strictly and even Downton Abbey. There is a thread about ratings with more details.

The show's nowhere near as much fun. No equivalents of Jedward and Rylan. No Danyl to take the piss out of. No tubby one from Little Mix. No acts good enough to care about.

It is a joy-free show.

Agreed!

I hate to say it, no Orange One and MeNan lol.

Never thought I'd hear myself say that

It's boring this year. There's no standouts at all. And it doesn't help that it doesn't matter who wins - they'll all struggle afterwards.

Rylan was King of the threads last year. Almost every one managed to turn into a discussion about him. I miss those days of defending him.

IF Mrs O had put Joseph through we'd constantly be hearing about Me Son

Me too.

Like you, there were quite a large number that defended him on here.

There's no one to either defend or annoy this year LOL!

Yes and thank goodness she didn't. I don't know why some raved over him. I didn't think he was that good. But of course that's just my opinion.

I'm at a loss this year to even post a thread on xfactor. I've gone from loving to hating to feeling indifferent about the show. this series is forgettable already and is further demontsrated by the fact that I don't know any of the contestants names. seriously people are talking about sam - is that a boy or a girl (or both)? someone posted insnt blad from kingsferry rd blah? no idea which one you are talking about and mores to the point I don't really care.

I don't think any of the acts are dreadful, it's just there's no clear standouts for me this year

I still think it's because people are so much more savvy about the show now that anyone genuinely good isn't going to risk their credibility by entering. That plus the fact that they've trawled the country continuously for many years now for talent that anyone good that's willing to enter over a certain age has probably already been through the process.

Plus the producers don't seem to know what they're doing with their choices.

What did for him was the temper tantrum during the chair round. It showed he wouldn't be able to handle the pressure of the vote offs. Imagine what he would have been like if he had ever been in the bottom two!!!

Sam B and Tamera can sing well, Hannah isnt bad, the rest are poor, SamB will never be a pop star, Tamera is a walking PR disaster they cannot promote, and of the no talents, there isnt a one direction type with personality, they are all pretty dull and uninspiring.

Repeat that after every show, and it gets boring. There is so little actual talent this year its difficult to find anything new to talk about.

Paul had a far better voice but he was overweight and therefore not easily 'marketable' so he fell at the final hurdle.
It exposes what the show is really all about and it's not a 'search for talent'.

They should have put through the strong singers like Paul and Melanie McCabe : to hell with whether anyone among the 12 is commercial or marketable after the show....it's supposed to be an entertainment show first and foremost.

Melanie wouldn't have been any more entertaining than anyone there this year. Paul would have been good though.

I've noticed this as well. The live show threads are down by around 1000 replies from last year. Maybe part of the problem is that the show has become too predictable.

Melanie at least could sing in tune and on pitch, which is sorely lacking from a lot of contestants this year.

But that isn't why the show is boring. It's because there's not only a lack of real talent but a lack of anyone interesting, so another mediocre singer with no personality like Melanie wouldn't help in the slightest.
