Well if you can call destroying two complete races to end a war a "win" then I suppose yes!
"Last man standing" and all that, but I don't think the Doctor quite sees it that way somehow!

Maybe it was written by the krikitmen and the TARDIS automatically translated it to a language Clara could read”

Maybe it wasn't even written as such and depending on who reads from the book, depends what is seen and for Clara, she read about The Doctor, probably the same with River but The Doctor gave River a book of her own.

So is this the only copy in existence? If the Doctor didn't write it, it can't be - and where did he get it, Planet Amazondotcom?

I recall speculating at the time that the TARDIS herself might have written the book in question.

Perhaps it was written by more than one author, throughout various stages of the time war.

Just a quick mention since this thread had peaked my curiosity...

River said it was she who spoke the Doctor's name to open the Tardis-tomb, but what if this was a feint? She assumed this, but what if in her panic & frenzy from The Whispermen it was Clara who actually recalled it in the recesses of her memory + Eleven plugged her into the Tardis telepathic circuits, so she wouldn't actually have to say his name out loud. Her memories were coming back to her as she climbed through the wrecked Tardis too. Afterall, the Tardis often communicates through thought processes with her passengers...

Not a bad theory, Clara was regaining some of her memory, enough that the Doctor was panicking and wanting to hurry up and get out of the area. She might have thought the name and she was last linked with the TARDIS might have opened the doors.

On the language - it would not necessarily be impossible for Clara not to read Gallifreyan, it is just more difficult. River even told Amy that there in front of the crib but Amy was to upset to concentrate to decipher the language. If the TARDIS is starting to trust Clara, then who know what secrets the TARDIS is willing to give Clara access.

Only timelords or part timelords can read it. Thats why she had to use the prayer leaf to prove her true identity to her parents . River also said it took time to get 11 to tell her his name. He did that because he knew it would mean he was close to losing her. Trying to spend as much time with her as possible.
